Any May Mommies Mov In Up

Hey to all of the May Mommys. I just hit 31 weeks this past Thursday. And I can't wait to get rid of the blinding back pain. This is my second pregnancy and it's a boy this time. I noticed I stick out more with this one than I did with my daughter. With her I gained almost 60 pounds and was surprised I lost it. The Secret is Karate. I highly recommend it. As for the animals, I have two cats that act the same way. They know they are about to pushed aside for a little pink thing that makes a lot of noise and will someday pull their tails. Right now my cats are being super protective of me while I sleep, but will NOT come near me when I'm awake. They did this last time too. One night my husband got a little too close to me, and the cats clawed him to shreds. And one of them has been his cat for 13 years!!! Well, have a nice night. If it is possible to be comfortable in your third trimester.

Well, I had the ultrasound yesterday, and it looks like this is girl number three! Now I guess my hubby and I can start getting serious about picking a name. The ultrasound was lots of fun, and the lady gave us a bunch of freebies: a mini-brag book, a diaper bag and changing pad, and stuff like that. She even offered to burn us extra DVD's for free! I get the hip pain at night, too. I've gotten it with all my pregnancies. People always talk about the "charlie horses," so it took me a while to realize that the hip pain I was feeling was not just a general ache, but a muscle cramp. Also, I get this odd pain under my ribs on the right side. The baby seems to be hanging out on that side, so I'm sure it must have something to do with things starting to get smooshed around. This pregnancy hasn't seemed quite so bad for the night pains, though. Either I've gotten used to waking up several times a night to pee, turn over, stretch, etc, or it hasn't been as bad so far. I think it was you, Jessica, that asked when I started potty training my oldest daughter? (I can't remember now, and I don't want to go looking for the post at the moment.) I can't remember when exactly I started. I got the potty chair just to have it on hand, and she was so excited about it that I went ahead and encouraged her to use it. She was probably about your daughter's age. Like your daughter, she did use it here and there, and managed to make a few "deposits," which we all cheered over. But then she seemed to lose interest. Everything I've read says not to make a big deal or turn it into a power struggle; that she'll learn when she's ready, so I've kept it pretty low key. But she seems so ready. She knows what she's doing, and can control it. She just doesn't always want to. Even when offered rewards, she was saying that she didn't want to use the potty. It's really come to a head now, because she's in an independent stage, and fights me over diaper changes. ("ME DO IT!" As if she could do a whole diaper change herself. And "I want Minnie Mouse diaper!") So I've started being a little more serious and consistent about potty training. Most days, when she asks to watch TV, I'll say, "Sure! as soon as you take off your diaper and sit on your potty!" So now she sits on her potty for a while each morning. I'm having to do the naked thing, though: training pants haven't worked at all so far. (And I'm using the cloth ones.) As long as she has anything at all on under her dress, she'll pee in it just as if it was a diaper. Good luck with yours, too. If you run into any good ideas, pa__s 'em on! (Though I guess this really falls more into the toddler care section than the third trimester one.)

Great advice, thanks LL! These little minds just have to decide they are ready and then I'm sure one day, it will be like, Hello? Mom? I'm ready for my potty now. I feel too PG right now to invest much energy in it, anyway. :P Oh and congrats on your third little girl!! It will be a fun filled talkative house. :) Jackien, my two pets are a schnauzer and a Maine coon cat. They both didn't seem to treat me any differently with my pregnancies. If anything the cat seems to want to get closer to me. It was AFTER my DD was born that the moping came out, esp from the dog. She was extremely depressed, but that was probably because she wasn't the princess anymore. She even nipped at the baby a couple of times to which she received due hell. Now they have a pretty good relationship. I guess Brooke is more interesting to her now and they play fetch, etc. The cat lets Brooke pull his tail and is overall a good natured fellow. When he's had enough he just gets lost. Funny what these pets can perceive, huh? Jackien, have a blast at your shower and I remember feeling that way too. Will everyone show up? :D Shea, I will have to keep the karate tip in mind. I actually like kickboxing, but I have never tried karate. I will need to try something more stimulating than the treadmill to lose this baby weight! You girls reaching 31 weeks. I'm so jealous!!! Totally kidding. I just feel I am still so far off. I'll barely be 29 weeks next Tuesday. Aaaaaaa!!! But I am trying to just enjoy this pregnancy, the baby's movements and relish this probably last pregnancy for us. Hubby wants to get the big Vasectomy after this one. I'm a little sad about it, but I am 36 and we're pretty set on two. Still.... Ok, so last night we went to some friends house which we do every month for dinner and game night w/o the kids. It was a blast. We had some very heated and interesting convo. But my favorite part was playing their Wii. Anybody have one of these? Addicting!!! We played their American Idol wii game and I totally sucked at it, but it was fun living out our inner rock star. :) Have a great weekend ladies. My DH just made coffee and I'm going to have some. I'm so bad.

Hey: I have two cats and I've seen the opposite. They seem more clingy. One of my cats sleeps with us, she usually is on the foot of the bed, but know she sleeps up against me. She follows me everywhere, i guess she senses something's up. All this talk about Rice Krispie treats has got me drooling. But right now, i'm craving Oreos and milk. Hmmm, might just have to go get some LOL

How was the shower's that you ladies had over the weekend? Mine is this weekend and I am very busy trying to get everything in order. Any advice?? We went and had professional maternity pictures done last night. Great keepsakes for the nursery and "baby first pictures". I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow which we will then schedule my 3D ultrasound... Very excited!!! Only about 2 months to go!!! Can not wait!!!

jessica72 - March 9

Maternity pictures!! how fun. WE had a friend of ours do my shots for our firstborn, but we are wayyy behind with this pregnancy. I feel so slack! By this point, I already had filled out most of her baby book, had started a sc___pbook of sonogram and belly shots and had all her clothes organized. With this poor child, it will be lucky to get any proof that I was PG with it at all. Yeah, better get on that. LOL And I actually think my belly is cuter this time around too! MIM, have fun at your doctor appt! And yep, I can't believe we're all looking at around 2 more months to go! It's starting to steam ahead now. 29 weeks for me tomorrow!!! Ok, I heard some commotion coming from the bathroom, better go check that my toddler hasn't flushed all the TP down. :P

Missie76 - March 9

OH I did something bad, so bad today. I bought some Oreos, since I was craving these. I bought the big bag, not the snack size because I wanted to save them for other days when I had cravings for this. Oh, I so wish I had. Before I knew it, I had eaten half the bag! I had to take the bag out to the trash and throw it away. I feel so guilty! Has anyone else done this?

llmommy - March 9

When I read about Oreos and milk, of course I started wanting that. But I know better than to buy myself Oreos. Once I have the bag open in front of me, I just can't stop. And that's when I'm not even pregnant!

mommy in may - March 9

Haha ~~ Oh the oreos and milk are SOOOO tasty. I don't think I can buy a bag without knowing that half will be gone by the time I sit down with them. I have been trying to be good though as I have to get on that dreaded scale tomorrow!! I was there 3 weeks ago so I am thinking I have put on a pound or two... eeeek!!!

jessica72 - March 9

What is it about oreos and being pregnant??? I crave these all the time too. But today, I was bitten by Betty Crocker and baked a couple dozen oatmeal raisin cookies of which I've consumed like 5 already. I tend to be naughtier right after my doctor appts...hmm.

llmommy - March 10

Oatmeal raisin! Mmmmmmmm. . . we're so bad. I found Granny Smith apples on sale today four pounds for a dollar, and bought a bunch. The thought in my head was, "Apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. . .yummy!" And then once I got them home, I was thinking, "What am I, crazy? If I do make apple crisp, I'll just feel guilty." But I may break down and do it. Otherwise, I can always juice them and feel proud of how healthy I'm being. :-) Is anyone else having a return of the queasiness? It's not as bad as in in the first trimester, but it does seem like I'm having a touch of morning sickness again here and there. I remember being surprised by that when it happened in my first pregnancy. Somehow no one told me about that. Everyone says, "Oh, you get morning sickness in the first trimester, but it goes away in the second." They conveniently neglected to mention that it sometimes returns. Anyway, my doctor said it's quite normal. And what about all the other stuff no one told me about? They mention that there might be some shakiness during labor, but that would be a gross understatement when compared to what I had both times: nearly constant full body trembling and shaking for four or five hours! And someone could have mentioned that it might sting like fire every time I peed for a few weeks after the birth. Or that the afterpains can be EVIL. Anyway, not to be negative; it's just something to get my mind off of Oreos, apple crisp, and oatmeal raisin cookies! :-

Oh Juice! I love Juice. I think I've drank close to 20 gallons of juice since this pregnancy. Maybe that's why I've gained so much weight LOL, but I can't help it. Apple and Orange Juice are my weakness. Also, bananas. I love 'em. Have to have one every day. At least that's a little healthy right? LOL

jessica72 - March 10

You girls are cracking me up with all these cravings!! Love it! Missie, I'm also a juice-a-holic. I am proud that I've given up sodas, even diet and caffeine free ones, so that leaves me with milk, water and juice and juice is definitely the yummiest in that group. I am addicted to the combo ones they have, like pineapple/banana or strawberry/mango. Everytime I go grocery shopping, I have to buy one of those Odwalla smoothies they have in the produce section. I also love how it seems to get the baby to jump around more. All that sugar, no doubt. I put a banana in my cereal daily. Pota__sium staves off leg cramps, so that can't be bad. Here's another one of my cravings. Ice Cream! Ugh! I bought this Ben and Jerry's thing the other day and slowly chipped away at it. But in the end, when else can we indulge just a wee bit more??? After baby comes, it's back to being somewhat sensible :) Ok, we're taking our DD to Sea World today. I'm excited because DH took the day off and we got a season pa__s for Christmas from my brother. DD has been saying, "shamu!" all week, so this should be a treat for her as I think she will enjoy it more now that she is so much more aware. Wish us luck! Have a great day, ladies!

LL, I forgot to comment that I personally did not get the dreaded 3rd Tri queasiness, but know many girls who do/did. I feel for ya, girl. I can relate to a few of the other things you listed off though. I had the shakes very bad when they did the spinal block for my c-sect. It was awful and is one reason I would fight another c/s tooth and nail, but I'm hoping this time that it's not an emergency one, it won't be as bad. Afterpains were bad, but managed with some good pain relievers. I think what creeped me out was how much fluid I retained after I gave birth. All my pics I look like a b__w fish. Ugh! Thankfully it went away quickly.

mommy in may - March 10

So are the epidurals as bad as they say? I will be taking any pain medication that they offer me pre-birth. I am not in a position to feel pain. I am hoping she just comes out nice and easy and quick! Also, does anyone really think that birthing cla__ses are great and I should not do labor without?? This is my first and a few ladies that I talked to mentioned that it was a waste of time because when you are in the moment, you do not think to breathe the correct way. You just breathe the only way you can! But others swear by those cla__ses. I was just thinking about signing me and my hubby up for one but just wondering if you ladies think they helped or didn't help you!?! I had an appointment this morning and I have gained 8 pounds since the last visit 3 weeks ago!!!! Yikes. She told me to watch my carbs. I hate hearing that. Any advice? Mind you, I had a beautifully flat stomach prior to getting pregnant. It is hard being fat all of the sudden! I am very ready to get this over with!! Anyone else feeling that way now that we are on the home stretch?

Missie76 - March 10

Mommy: I talked to my Dr about the birthing cla__ses and she say's they aren't really necessary. Your instincts will pretty much kick in. I'm going for the no drugs, but knowing my pain tolerance I will be screaming for some LOL. yes, I have gained so much weight, thanks to my constant hunger, but I know once this baby comes, it's back to the gym and watching what I eat.
