Any May Mommies Mov In Up

MIM, 30 degrees! Better you than me. I guess I'm spoiled here in Southern California. I had my appointment: at least an hour of waiting, for 5 minutes with a doctor. I hate that. Anyway, my test results were good: no diabetes or anemia. My weight gain seems fine, too. The doctor did say that I'm measuring a bit big, so if I'm still big at my next appointment, they may give me another ultrasound to check on the baby's size. That's funny: my first baby was nice and pet_te: just under seven pounds. My second measured small during the pregnancy, but then ended up weighing over eight pounds at birth. So if I'm measuring big now, what does that mean for later? Oh, well.

Glad the appt. went well, LL. I measured big with my DD too, like a week or two discrepancy. My doc didn't seem to take it too seriously until I hit week 37 and he was like, You have an 8 lber or bigger in there. eek! She was in the end 9lbs and 3oz. :) Don't know if there was anything I could have done differently to not have her be that big. hmm... I feel a bit spoiled here in Southern Texas. We have been having 80 degree weather and then out of nowhere, it's been cold and rainy. But I love the cold and I love the rain, so I will take it. :) I wouldn't mind some of you girls' snow for a couple of days at least.

You can have it. I would take the sun over this c___ppy weather any day. We are supposed to get up to 40 degrees today. So that will be nice. I am busy getting ready for my baby shower on Sunday. Any tips ladies? I have been checking my registries to see who bought what :) That makes it fun... I am really excited. I am more excited to be done with this!!! Anyone else feeling that way? I am feeling fat and can barely tie my own shoes. I think tonight sounds like a good night for a pedicure/manicure!

I used to love checking the registries! ha! I felt like a kid sneaking around looking for her Christmas presents- so fun!!! I say just relax and have fun. It's you and your baby's day. Think of it like possibly the only presents your child is going to get that you will be allowed to open :) I'm feeling uncomfy and big too. I love being pregnant, I can't lie, but I can't say I'm not looking forward to the DD! I look comical!! I just know I'm going to miss somethings about it when it's all done. i.e. feeling LO move around in there. It just amazes me everytime. My poor little girl has a bad cold. With all these bans on infant medicines, the best I can do for her is Tylenol, but I just hate hearing her coughing all night. :(

Good morning ladies. Quiet Monday around here. How were the baby showers this weekend? I need to live vicariously thru you gals. :)

Hey Ladies! I have a question for you all and wanted to know what you thought. I'm having my baby shower the 5th of April and I'm helping planning it since my best friend is out of state. My husband and I set a budget and thought it would be a good idea to ask people to bring a dish, like a pot luck, to the shower. What do you think? Tacky? In this economic downfall, we need to scrimp and save as much as possible. Can't see spending $200 of hard earned money, when that needs to go to baby things.

Hi there ~ I had my baby shower yesterday and it was wonderful. We rented out a pub in town and hd a cash bar and great food. We got lots of goodies for the baby that is on her way! It is amazing what people will get for you but we made out very well. I think she has all the clothes she needs for a year. I also did a diaper raffle... it is where you ask each guest to bring a pack of diapers and everyone who does, gets a raffle ticket. At the end of the shower you draw a ticket and give the winner a special prize. This is so nice because you end up with all the diapers! Not everyone brought diapers but we definatly made out. I think we will be set with diapers and wipes for the first few months. That is the best part! People are truly generous with first babies! Just a thought for your showers ~ but if the invites have already gone out... then it is too late. I did not want my shower to end! I did feel awkward opening all the gifts in front of people. That took about an hour of the party but my mother in law insisted that people would want to see all the gifts. I got a little tired of it after awhile and just wanted to do it at home with my man. Oh well, all in all it was perfect, could not have been better with beautiful weather as well. Missie: I don't think that is a bad idea at all. The shower was VERY expensive and if I was to do it again, I would be more open to the idea of asking people to bring a dish. On the other hand, I wanted to spoil my guests for coming to celebrate and for all the wonderful presents. You may get more gifts that way as well! Don't feel like you have to do a TON of food either. Just some home made finger sandwiches, chips, etc. would please a lot of people. That is how we did it and it was much cheaper than buying everything. I think that either way, people will be glad to be in your company. We are on the one digit countdown now!! 8 or so weeks to go ladies!

Missie, and this is just me. I might go with something simple like cake, punch, and ice cream before I'd ask the guests to bring food. Unless you've got some close family that can help pitch in for some food items. Sams/Costco has some good deals on little appetizers, finger foods, etc. I guess my thinking is since they're probably bringing a gift for the baby, I wouldn't want them to have to worry about cooking or anything. Is your best friend the only hostess? or are there a few more you can divvy up the cost with? It also depends on how close you are to the guests and your comfort in asking them. I hear ya about the economic times. Ugh it's a hard one. Anyway, just MHO.

MIM, our posts must have crossed. Sounds like a great shower! Neat idea on the diaper raffle. I know what you mean about it being kind of embarra__sing opening all the gifts in front of everyone, but I know as guests that's everyone's favorite part. I think we're set with diapers too, Oh and i think I decided against cloth diapering. Just don't think I have it in me. Love the earth, but love my sanity a little more :P Good point on guests just happy to be in your company. First babies are very spoiled! :)

Most of our guests already know that we are saving up and I'm sure they will be more than happy to help out. I let them know that they didn't have to bring anything, the option was up to them, but that we'd be having finger foods, drinks, chips, etc.

Hey strangers! I've been so ridiculously busy, I haven't had time for anything! My baby shower was last weekend, I had a great turnout! Everyone was late, so I had a freak out momemt, lol, but it was ok! My LO is SO spoiled already! We bought her crib, mattress and other furniture today. AYE! EXPENSIVE! But I figure it'll last us through another baby if we decide to have one. Anyone else just feeling exhausted lately? My mean hubby was laughing at me yesterday because after putting my pants on, I was SO out of breath. Haha! I have a question! Is there a certain time when our babies are supposed to "drop"? I'm pretty sure she did. A lot of pressure has been relieved from my bladder, finally haha, and my belly is shaped different too. I just wasn't sure. I'm 33 weeks on Thursday... gosh I can't wait. 7 more weeks!

Yes, I have been quite tired recently as well. More so now than in the first trimester. I enjoy going to bed early and sleeping late. I don't feel guilty about it either because I know this is the last chance I will have to do it before the little one arrives. What are your ladies biggest fears? Does everyone else freak out on a daily basis with all these pregnancy thoughts going through your heads? I am constantly thinking about the baby, the birth, things that could go wrong... I just hope everything will be perfect but I can't help but to worry. This being my first, I really have no idea what to expect. I just wish I could calm all my fears in my head. I just want to get it over with and see that everything is okay!!!

jessica72 - March 17

Welcome flaca! How are your daughters reacting to a new little sister in the house? I don't think my DD quite grasps the concept that she's going to be a big sister, but there are times I think she has an inkling. Tired here too!! But I'm fighting a bad cold, so that isn't helping with the sleep. MIM, I remember feeling that way with my first too. Thinking of everything wayyy too much. I think it's normal. Doesn't make it easy, though. Does anybody feel like their belly can't possibly get any bigger? I just feel like I've popped forward so much in the last few weeks. I live in my stretchie pants around the house now.

hi jessica, well my 9yr old has brain damage, so she doesnt talk, but shes very smart and she understands, she looks exited and happy, she loves beign around babys a lot and i ask her wheres the baby and she looks at my belly and smiles,my 5 yr old is very exited she asks me like every other day , when is the doctor going to take the baby out, and she kisses my belly, well my belly is not that big, is definetely bigger than my other two, but not huge, and im defenitely tired all the time, is like i dont have energy at all, i also have an uti, is not fun at all, ive had 8 uti trough the whole pregnancy it hurts a whole lot..

Thanks for easing my mind Jessica. I just hope my thoughts and fears are normal. I know that my fiance is the father of my baby but my biggest fear is that the baby will not come out as his. I know that I have said this before and it makes no sense... lol. But that is probably the worst thing that could happen. I am not sure why I think this way but that is one of them. Who knows, I just want to meet my baby girl. I am feeling bigger but I know that there is a lot more to come. Everyone tells me that you get the biggest in the last month. I do not want to see that!! My b___sts have not changed at all, since day one. Kind of odd. But at the same time, okay. They are not even sore. I suppose that will come after the little one arrives. Any baby showers this weekend?
