That stinks! Now I'm worried. lol Maybe the tech confused the labia with the t______es? If she's had three scans that have been girl...was it the same tech? Some have been known to take a guess without really knowing. Good luck to your friend-that's got to be stressful!

That is scary...I went at 20 weeks, then again at 24 weeks, first was girl, then second I made sure to ask if she had grown a wiener...still a girl....I'm not sure what we will do if she comes out with a wiener!!! Sometimes it is hard to tell even later on, I know people who the technician just can't tell! In that case they don't just a__sume girl though. I am sorry that she is going through that...I hope all ends well for her!

It makes you wonder how often they are wrong. I want at least one girl and one boy so I really won't care if they were wrong on me and we end up with a girl but it does suck in the sense that this whole time I've been bonding with my child like it's a boy and I've bought all boy stuff. lol I'm hoping they aren't wrong. At my 20 week u/s they said he was a boy and then I had another at 28weeks but his legs were crossed and in the way so they couldn't confirm gender. I should be having another u/s at 36 weeks and I'm hoping they can confirm at this one.

i would guess that it's a girl. hard to say! i heard the mistakes usually occur w/girls - b/c its easier to ID the presence of p___s than lack of one. at my first gender-identifying u/s, the tech seemed annoyed when i asked her 'are u sure it's a boy?' we don't have a girl name picked out so it'd be bad if they're wrong. but the baby seemed to like to flash the techs his privates so we should be ok. there's an 'ancient' chinese gender chart (google that phrase to find it) that predicts a baby's gender based on the mom's age and the month of conception. i'd love to hear if its predicting correctly for others. in my case, i can't tell. i conceived either right before or right after my bday, depending on if you believe my memory or the doc's calculations. my memory's not spectacular, but i happened to be 200 miles away from my honey on the doc's conception date - on which my due date is based. its possible i conceived a few days after the doc's calculation. its all in good fun anyway. life's unpredictable :D

It certainly doesn't sound like anything to be worried about and doesn't sound scary to me. I would think things like the heart looks abnormal or the baby's size is not changing would be strange or scary. The best way to find out is to look between the legs when the baby is born ;)

Honestly being told several times during a scan the wrong gender is a LOT more common than you would think...infact my husbands best friends fiance was told several times she was having a boy, and at her last scan to check the babies placement there were NO little boy parts and only little girl stuff, so all her boy stuff was returned and exchanged for girl stuff 2 weeks before she gave birth. They can make mistakes since it isn't an exact science, Yes its a lot more accurate than it used to be, but there are still MANY factors that come into play like the cord, and shadows on the screen and such so I would say that it could be either way.... shough the parts are far far more defined now than they were at 18 weeks, which is far early for the 4D scan which is best done at 29-32 weeks, and all babies develope at different rates, just saying, it happens a LOT more than most people know...
