Hello everyone I am almost 36 weeks pregnant and for the last two days i have been having snot-like jell mucus w/ a little blood coming out. On this website it sounds like my mucus plug but my sister told me that when she was pregnant and she was experiencing it her Dr told her that it was her cervix thinning!! And he is a great Dr! Reading everything on this website everyone saying it's our mucus plug. Does anyone know which it is or is experiencing anything like this..????

Thats the mucus plug my dear.

yeah that is your mucus plug or what they call "bloody show" which means you could go into labor at anytime...which is kinda concerning cause your only 36 weeks and your considered full term at about 37... i would talk to the doc though...but i wish you the best of luck..

I am only 31 weeks but ive done a lot of reading it could be a thing called a Show which is the mucus plug thinning out u normally will get it a few weeks before u go into labour :) good luck

It is both, the cervix has thinned enough for the mucus plug to start to come away!

i have already lost my plug and after that i started to git the mucous coming out of me and the doctor says that i am know 80% phased on my cervix, so i believe the mucous is the thinning of your cervix.

My guess is cervix thinning. Because when it does little capillaries break, which is what causes the little bit of blood. I could be wrong but this is what they told us at prenatal cla__ses.

I think mucus would be a more noticeable chunk of something...and not all women notice, or even lose their plug until labour

sounds like a show, i have had the same thing today, and from wat i have read it sounds like a show to me

Your sister's doc is right - the cervix is thinning, which generally means you will lose your mucus plug anyway...My guess is that the mucus is your mucus plug! I'm 38 weeks pregnant and have been having the same symptoms.

When your cervix is effacing (ie) thinning, you will dislodge your mucus plug which is definitly what you are losing my dear.

HI MISSY I AM 38 WEEKS PREGNANT AND HAVING LABOR CONTRACTIONS. MY DR. SAID THAT I MIGHT HAVE TO BE INDUCED BECAUSE THE BABY ISN'T DOPPING. BUT AT MY 36 WEEK MARK I HAD THE SAME THING YOU ARE AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS MY CERVIX THINNING. SO I WILL GO WITH YOUR SISTER .

It's actually goes hand in hand like a couple other women said. What you're seeing is actually the mucus plug, but you're seeing it because you're cervix is thinning and dialaiting. I'm 37 weeks and I'm experiencing it right now as well ;-)

I went to the doctor for the exact same thing. I had a thick mucus comming out and when my doctor checked me he a__sured me that it was my cervix thinning out. in you case with the blood maybe its your mucus plug and maybe its just your cervix thinning but either way your body is progressing toward the same thing. just look for the trickle of fluid (constant) and that will mean that your water has actually broken. but you should consult your doctor.

nana - December 19

when you lose your mucus plug it is the thinning of you cervix so they are the same thing.

Do you always have blood in the mucus when your mucus plug breaks. I had a mucus stuff starting yesturday but no blood. I'm 37 weeks and dilated to about 2 1/2 as of this past monday. Any info would be helpful!!
