Due Dates And Gestation Age

I am wondering how many women have had there babies on their due date or their baby's measurement date when there was such a big discrepancy between the dates???
I am 31w4d. Baby is measuring 34w4d, 3 weeks farther along than I supposedly am. Doctor is NOT changing my due date. For my original due date, they went off the 6 week u/s and not my lmp. My lmp was 2 weeks early than the gestational age.
So just curious for those moms who have had similar experiences, when did you deliver?

From what my Dr told me the early u/s's are actually their best bet for an accurate dating. LMP's aren't always accurate (as in my case cause I have 6 week cycles but still only ovulate 2 weeks before so if they date it by that I'd be two weeks further along) and during the very beginning of the pregnancy when they do an u/s they aren't actually looking at size as much as they are looking at what has formed because during those first few weeks pretty much all babies grow and form at the same rate. Something of that nature anyways, so typically whatever you measured during a early u/s is pretty accurate. You may be measuring ahead now just because your baby is a lil bigger, and it's possible that that growth rate slows down some, but I doubt they want to change you due date because the baby's lungs continue developing and maturing pretty much until the time they are full term and are born so they don't want to just a__sume your baby is older and ready for the outside world when he could just be a lil large. I hope that helps. I know, I'm ready to get my lil man out too, but it's always possible that your baby comes early on his/her own and then you don't even have to worry about it. I think only like 2% of people give birth ON their due date anyways.

For my first, all my measurements were exactly the same to the day...all 4 ultrasounds and every uterus measurement...but when I delivered 5 days early they said that, based on his dry skin and the state of the placenta, I was probably quite overdue. My doctor told me that not all pregnancies are the same length and my cycle just might be a bit shorter. The conclusion in the end is that it's all a c___p-shoot and the baby will come when it does. Kind of frustrating though when there is such a big difference in your dates, it would be so frustrating to not know! Good luck!

Dont worry about the measurements. My baby always measured later than what she had in the beginning by the third trimester. she measured 2-3 weeks bigger started around week 12 and my doctor never changed my due date. i delivered a healthy 7lb 2 oz baby girl 1 week before my due date. at 30 weeks she measured 33 weeks. at 33 weeks she measured 35 weeks at 37 weeks she measured 38 weeks. so it balances out. (her head remained huge though) :) but like i said dont worry. 3 weeks off isnt a big deal, and its better to be bigger than smaller.

still waiting to deliver, but i've measured on schedule the whole way. i have an irregular cycle, and got the early u/s. but i happen to also know my actual conception date, and it doesn't match up exactly to either the lmp or the early u/s. but its only a few days off, not a few weeks.
i think most babies will come when they're ready, and due dates are bs-ish. my mum says in the old world, they say the baby came on time if it was born with a full head of hair =D she claims that in some rural areas, some women went 12 months being pregnant, no induction, ha. i tend to think that's not quite right or as common as she made it out to be, but it drives home the point to be patient!
