casotr oil...it can dehydrate you and while it works for some is not recommended by doctors because it can also cause the baby to become stressed and pa__s meconium (open bowels in the uterus) it actually used to be the induction method as opposed to pitocin in the old days for hospitals!

Nerdy, it is castor oil that causes the bad diarhea.

castor oil* I mean. the baby opening his bowels in the uterus can be dangerous because if he swallows it can cause pneumonia in his/her lungs

okay I have a tmi question here........lol..........Okay so it says you can apply the evening primrose directly to the cervix (a__suming you can reach) as of 36 weeks.......Well Im pretty sure I cant reach, but that way sounds alot more affecient then just putting the whole capsol up there at night.......so lmfao!! My question is do you think it is safe, or would work the same, if dh and I used it as a personal lubricant.....lmao! I feel like a 16year old asking this question, but Im really curious what you ladies think?

Castor Oil is a laxative. CASTROL (Oil) is motor oil for automobiles and such. Neither will help ripen the cervix... However... The motor oil may make your baby get better fuel mileage... if changed every 3000 miles. LoL.
Hey Nerdy.... Sorry, I just got tickled when I read all of the posts and confusion over the Primrose Oil and such. Not meaning to laugh at you or anything... Thanks for making my giggle for the day though. Really helped. :)

there is nothing to prove that Castor Oil causes the baby to pa__s meconium. Most women don't take it until their due date or after.. at which point the baby is more likley to pa__s meconium anyway. It can cause dehydration though.

I am taking EPO right now. I use it v____ally twice a day and it seems to have worked because a week ago I wasn't dilated or effaced and now I am 1cm and 25%.

Bianca, How far along are you? When did you start using it v____ally? Also do you just insert the capsules? Or do you just cut the pill open and rub it on you cervix? Weird questions I know, but I don't have a clue.

You all should look into blue and black cohosh tea also. One helps strenghthen contractions, the other helps make them occur with more regularity. Although I'm 2 days overdue, I have noticed that it has helped with my contractions. I have a doc. appt. tomorrow so we'll see if it's really working. My girlfriend used it with her last pregnancy and went into labor that night- unfortunately I'm not having that luck, but at the very least it is supposed to help speed up labor when (AND IF) it ever happens!

I'm 36 weeks and started using it v____ally 3 days ago. I just put the capsule as far up as it'll go. I would rub it on my cervix but I just don't know where it is :( You can also open it and use the oil on your DH's p___s, as a lubricant.

Kimberly...did you use it yet? I walked my pregnant b___t to walmart yesterday and picked some up! I inserted a whole 1000mg soft gel 'down there' last night... and today lost part of my mucus plug! (I was already 2 centimeters, %30 effaced though- I'm almost 37 weeks) I know you want to hold off on using it because you are at 35 but I think you can swallow from 34 on...it's actually a pretty cool capsule, even if your not pregnant. It lowers blood pressure and helps PMS. Also, super safe. Thanks for the idea and I hope it works out for you!

Yeah, I took one last night and am planning on taking it again tonight. That is so cool, you have already lost some of your plug, there is hope yet!!
I thought I would start inserting it next week at 36 weeks, do you think that is to soon?

I don't think it's too soon, from what I understand it works like s____n. Just very gradually softens the cervix. GL!
