I am 38 weeks pregnant and I woke up this morning at around 6 with contractions. I timed them for an hour and half, and for the first forty minutes they were about ten minutes apart and lasted about thirty to forty-five seconds. After that they stopped, but my back never stopped hurting. My baby dropped three weeks ago, and I have been having spells where I get lightheaded for a few seconds a couple times a day. I have not had any obvious signs of labor. Has anyone else experienced anything like that before labor?

yes and no - everything but the lightheadedness. i'm 39w and have been having frequent but light contractions all this past month - as frequent as every 3 minutes. changing positions and drinking water didn't really help. my baby dropped his head down a month ago.
and then yesterday morning the contractions came on stronger, and felt like menstrual cramping w/some back ache. the contractions returned to normal but left me w/back ache. and then early early this morning they started up again, stronger - but different too. these radiate from the back, and have been coming on and off all day. my back's been killing me all day, and i've felt uterine cramping. i've since lost my mucous plug and feel like i'm having bad menstrual cramps.
my odd thing is, i woke up on my back this morning and my tummy was totally lopsided to one side - a first for me. i a__sume baby just moved, but it was totally weird - and uncomfortable b/c it contracted like that and i felt unnatural stretching.
maybe you'll have your baby soon! i think mine's defn getting ready if not on his way... what's an obvious sign to you?
