You know I wonder why aren't there places you can go to have your water broken, it seems like a simple procedure and it does cause you to either start labor or to get induced 24 hours later. A friend of mine was 40 weeks and went to the hospital for a check up because she was scared about loosing her mucus plug. She was 100% effaced (no contractions, no labor) and they broke the water right there for her. She started labor within an hour. It seems to me that breaking the water somehow is the way to go.

someone mentioned it on one of these sites about doing it themselves, as the proper sites explain its just like a crochet hook, tell you ive thought about it, but wouldnt. If they did things to help women they wouldnt be at home drinking gla__ses of wine, castor oil, etc, i asked the doc who wouldnt induce me at 41 weeks incase it didnt work why i couldnt just have the gel or prostin to ripen cervix and see if it worked if it didnt go home wait till 10 days over, he just said no if we start you we finish you, thats it. aghhhh wonder if there is a blackmarket, although its too late for me now

my hormones are fine. I'm not pregnant. I was on here with my friend who is 38 weeks. I was shocked reading these posts. I never dreamed of doing half these things when I was pregnant with my son and mine was a very uncomfortable pregnancy. This is a forum board so I am free to express my opinion. Peace.

of course you are ent_tled to your opinion, like all of us are. Just the crocket needle comment you made was where a misinterpretation of someone else's post, who hapens to be a great person. She is ent_tled to her opinions without having it to be distorted and exaggerated the way you did, don't you agree?

I was reading through some of the stuff I got in my childbirth ed cla__s today. One of the things I read was a very well-written, research-backed piece on inductions. Granted, they were discussing the scheduled kind using pitocin, but there are so many good reasons to just let nature take its course, given that you do not have a medical reason to induce (e.g. dangerous to leave baby inside mom, waters broke but no contractions, uterine infection, being 42+weeks pregnant, pre-eclampsia, other medical conditions that pose a threat to baby, etc) They said having a big baby (which it looks like I may be having) is not a good reason to take the baby early, and neither is convenience to the mother. In many cases of induction, there is a higher risk of delivering a premature baby (they can be off by two weeks when calculating a due date,) labor complications, and c-section, all with no improvement of the baby's outcome. I am only a little over 36 weeks, and mildly to moderately uncomfortable, so I may be feeling a little differently about do-it-yourself remedies in a few weeks. I do not see myself doing anything to force this kid out and will let nature take its course, if possible. With that said, I have an unproven remedy for all you DIY induction wannabes. My manicurist said her sister had a pedicure, gla__s of wine, and s_x with hubby right before she went into labor with both of her kids. Not sure if that induced her or not, but she seems to think so.

I am 41 weeks and 2 days. As much as I want this baby out, I would rather wait and let it happen naturally. I admit I've tried curries, spicey foods and walking - but them are not stupidly dangerous. I don't know why people can't just wait. This is my 3rd baby, and it's the 3rd time ive been late. I was 14 days with my 1st, 9 days with my 2nd and I'm now almost 9 days with this baby. It seems as though it's draggin but in a few short days I will have him, and it will of been worth the wait! (Thats what I'm telling myself anyways lol, it's the only thing keeping me sane)

I'm overdue, and going out for a hot curry and a gla__s of wine tonight. Even though, I don't like red wine, or curries that are too hot, it needs to be done, I have to try ... anything. I'm only 4'11" and the strain of being heavily pregnant has taken its toll on me for the third and last time. GET HIM OUT
