Hey ladies! Well I am officially in labor! My water broke around 5:30pm technically yesterday cause it's after midnight now. It wasn't a big gush though. It felt like I peed myself a little, so I put a pad on (happened while I was putting on make up to go take my dog to the groomers) but I wasn't sure it was my water because I expected a big gush. So hubby and I took the pup and walked around a couple stores waiting for her to be done. I had a little more leaking. Then we got home and I had kind of a gush, so called my doc and she said go in. Got to the hospital and yup it was my water. I'm not contracting much but am 3-4cm dilated. They said if I don't start dilating more by 3am they will start me on petocin. I'm not due til the 30th but they think he'll be a good size. I am so excited and nervous!! Not feeling any pain yet but I know that's coming with the petocin. Well I'll let you guys know what happens!!

Hello all soon to be October mommies! My son, Blake Russell was born October 3rd at 6:09pm, weighing 6lbs 3oz and measuring 20 inches long. He has strawberry blonde hair (I'm a redhead too). He came out breathing on his own and was even allowed to spend the night with us, despite being 3 weeks and 6 days early.
I labored for about 24.5 hours (counting from the time my water broke). I had an epidural at noon which I was terrified of but it wasn't bad at all and only took 5 minutes. I didn't dilate past 6cm for several hours so they finally increased my pitocin and I dilated the last 4cm so quickly! I felt the excruciating pain of being fully dilated for about 45 minutes before I begged them to check me (my nurse wasn't very attentive). I pushed for nearly an hour and it was very painful and exhausting and I didn't think it would ever end. Finally he popped out, but I did have a small tear that needed st_tches. And the end result is a beautiful healthy baby boy :)
Ok so the things I wasn't expecting or prepared for; I had no idea you leak the entire time! I thought your water breaks, there's a gush, and that's that. It was an awful feeling, feeling like you are peeing yourself over and over. I must have gone through 30 pads in the bed. Second thing was the pressure in your b___t from the contractions. With the epidural I didn't feel anything until I was near the end and all I felt was the b___t pain. And today my bum is still sore and swollen. No hemmoroids though yay! Well that's my labor story (sorry if tmi). Can't wait to read all of yours!!

hey ladies i know that it is late but i have to share my good news........
so here it is Sunday afternoon, hubby, son and I are watching the game. Hubby dont usually work on sunday but he had to today. He told me that he told his other mom (not his bio mom, but she is just like a mom to him) that we would come by today. And since it is 2 weeks shy of my c section date we would come today so she can see us before the baby comes.
So anyways he gets off of work at 7:45ish he only worked maybe 3 hrs. He calls me to make sure we (son and I) are dressed. When he gets here we hop in the car and make the 20 min drive to his moms house. We pull up and she has a house full looking at all the cars in the yard. Hubby was outside talking to his brother and our son is a little sick so I took him in the house. It was dark and he was like mommy its dark in here. Im like I know where is everyone at. And just then........... SUPRISE ITS A BABY SHOWER!!!!!
I was so shocked and almost cried my eyes out. I mean it was just so nice of them. I could not believe that they had done all of that just for me. She cooked up a nice variety of food, it was alot of family that I know and alot that I was still learning. But i had a blast. Hubby had to leave about 9 to go pick my mom up from the airport, but when they got back I was just getting ready to cut the cake. They played games that we did not play at the shower my mom had us in June. It was so much fun. OMG they went all out on gifts, I mean she did not need anything at all. But she racked up on more clothes, diapers, and wipes. We also got other things as well, but it was just so nice of them. I am still sitting here crying thinking about how much this little girl and I are loved. I really love them so much and I know that she knows it. I am truly blessed.

I welcomed my little James Philip into the world on the 24th. I was dilated 5cm going into the hospital that day, but no real contractions. They went ahead and put me on pitocin, gave me the epidural around noon, then we waited. I got to 10 by 8pm, pushed until 8:45, but he was "sunny side up" iwth is head turned to the side and just wouldn't come down. Then I got a fever and his heart rate kept dropping, so at 9:15, it was c-section time. That's why I haven't been on lately. I can only go up and down the stairs once per day, and the computer is downstairs.
Anyway, 7lb 11oz, 18 3/4 inches, and a head full of dark hair (no telling where that came from), and he's already gained all his weight back in these 12 days.
Best of luck to everyone else out there, and congrats to Les, too.

CONGRATS wunder! Wow am I ever jealous of you ladies now! I am now 5 days over due and anxiously waiting. I have only felt a few contractions and I am not even sure that is what they were. I am going to the Midwife this afternoon, my appointment is in an hour. I am hopping she'll have some good news for us! My family keeps calling me to "check in", even family members I don't talk to that often. My husband calls from work every day now to see if anything is happening LOL! Good luck to everyone, I hope no one else has to go this over due. I must say I have never been this uncomfortable in my life hehehe!

Dice~~ I know that you are ready expecally being overdue. Hopefully your little one will be here shortly.
So here is my update from my docs apt that I had yesterday. I am 37 weeks, she is still very high. My cervix is still closed, thick and high. He heartbeat sounded a little slow but that was because the doc did not have a good position. I am still scheduled for my c section on the 19th. I so can not wait. Good luck to all you mommies.

Congrats on the new lil' ones!! How very exciting! Glad to hear things have went so well :)
Well, today did not go the way I had planned it at all! Today is my due date and the plan was to go into the dr and basically set a date for induction. My husband took off work to go with me and help me with the decision making and I must admit I was pretty excited. The dr checked my cervix as usual and then he did something very abnormal. He didn't say anything about how dilated I was and just said, "go head and get dressed, I need to check your chart and I'll be right back." Needless to say I was very anxious at that point! He came back a few minutes later and said that he was concerned that the placenta was too low and blocking the baby's exit, so he wanted to me to get an ultrasound pretty much immediately. He also said that due to how small I am (5'1" and mostly legs...not much going on for a torso lol), my only prayer of delivering v____ally was to go into labor on my own, and even then, there's still a chance he won't fit. He set me up with an ultrasound so we went there but by the time the tech was done, the dr's office was closed and the tech couldn't get ahold of my dr to talk to him. So basically here I sit a little bit worried and trying to tell myself that if it was something really bad, the tech would have sent me to the hospital. Personally, I'm ready to just schedule a C-section and get this lil' one out! Poor thing looked so squished on the ultrasound, he could barely move! Anyway, I will be anxiously waiting to hear from my dr tomorrow and I hope it's good news and there's nothing wrong with my lil' one :(

CONGRATS WUNDER!!!!
So I'm 36w6d today and really having a lot/constant pelvic pain. Can't sleep anywhere close to a full night, waking up and staying up from about 2 or 3am to 6am and dozing off till I get up at 7ish for work. Its getting old, really want to sleep, especially since in a few weeks i won't really have a choice about it. I don't know if i'm having contractions, I do get menstrual cramps on & off, but not like contractions on & off. More like on for 1 hr, off for 4hrs, on for 1 etc. 2 weeks ago my cervix was still closed, hoping for a little change tomorrow
Godd luck all!

Hey everyone... Congrats to Les and Wunder. Les your baby boy shares a birthday!
I am pleased to announce I had a GIRL! Huge surprise (though we didn't know either way) as we thought we were having a boy. Her name is Bethany Grace. She was born October 3, 2009 at 4:48 pm. She is 21.5 inches (55cm) and 6 lbs and 10 oz. Has the most beautiful red/brown hair.
We had some issues after the birth as she just stopped eating but I am glad to say she is eating well now and cluster feeds in the middle of the night.
My labour did not follow the normal pattern and they prolonged my labour to get my antibiotics. I started with 6 minute contractions at about Friday October 6th. After about four hours of walking around the house and sitting on an excersie ball I decided to go for a bath. 20 minutes later they were about 4 minutes apart lasting 2 minutes and I was very nauseaus so we packed up went to the hospital. Got there and I was only 2-3 cm apart. Gave me some pills to relax and sent me home. I slept a bit but not a lot. Next thing I know the contractions are still 3-4 minutes apart lasting two minutes and I started to vomit. Knowing vomiting is a sign of entering transition we went back to the hospital 2:30. I was only 3-4 cm. They game me the anti- biotics and morphine to sleep between contractions.
Because of a mix up they didn't call the doctor and didn't have on record I received the first dose at 3:00 am. The morning shift only saw that I received some at 6:30 am. At 11:00 the nurse who was a__signed to me said she will get the doctor to come see me when I am done my second dose. My dh mentioned this was my third dose that they called the doctor (all the while I am still vomiting and contractions every 3-4 minutes 2 minutes long). Doctor came at 11:30 and I was 4 cm and broke my water.
My active phase was very short but my transistion phase lasted longer. Very backwards. I was stuck at 9 and a bit cm for over an hour. But once I could push the pain went away. Most amazing thing ever. The nurse said she would call the doctor when she saw hair and two pushes later she was calling the doctor. Though I pushed for almost an hour I could have had her out sooner. I would sit out some contractions and et myself stretch. Kept telling myself "Burning is good" and well it paid off. No tears or st_tches. I would do it again... but not anytime soon.
Hope everyone else is doing well.

Finally! I now have my very own birth story to tell! I thought this day would never come! I am happy to announce that my little guy, Trent Alexander, was welcomed into the world on October 8th at 10:09 am! He weighed 8 pounds 1 ounce, and is 20 inches!!
I woke up on the 7th and when I got up out of bed to pee I felt a little bit of a gush. I went to the bathroom to find some pinkish bloody stuff and was concerned that perhaps I had broken my water. I called the Midwife and she said to come in so she could check it out. I called my husband home from work and we headed there. Before he even got home I had started having some contractions at about 11:30. The Midwife couldn't prove that it was my water that had broken, but she said it was my bloody show. She hooked me up to monitor me and I was having contractions about 5 minutes apart. She sent me home to rest, which I couldn't do because I woke up so late in the morning, because my cervix was still closed.
I was at home for nearly 10 or so hours before my contractions finally became 3 minutes apart. Before that they were very sporadic with some of the 22 minutes apart. We called the Midwife at about 1:30 am and she said to come to the hospital because it sounded like I was in active labor. When I got to the hospital I was only about 1-2 cm. I got in the jacuzzi for an hour and half and went back to my room. When I got there I was 5-6 cm and with in the next half hour or so I was 8 cm. At that point I received Nubian through my IV which took the edge off for about 2 hours. I was really grateful for it because it helped me to relax so I could make it to 10 cm. I remember having contractions, but I also remember not caring as much because I was a little out of it. When it came time to push there was NO medication in me at all! Who knew that pushing would be so painful and awful, I think it was the worst part of all as far as pain. When they tell you that the head coming out is like a "ring of fire", don't take that lightly, they MEAN it! I pushed for 2 hours or so and finally his head came out. I reached down to feel his hair and that was all the motivation I needed to push him the rest of the way out! When he was placed on my stomach it was the best thing in the world! He is so cute, OMG!!!!!!!
I feel so proud of myself for not needing an epidural, even though I REALLY wanted it. So for all but 2 hours of my entire labor and delivery I did it medication free. I really surprised myself and my family! I have a reputation for being a wimp hehehe!! I didn't tear at all I only have a small skid mark, which I am thrilled about! I am so happy to finally have him here in my arms! I feel so lucky that he chose me to be his mommy!!
Good luck to the rest of you October Mommies!!!!!!!!!!!!
