bumblebee~~ actually yeah I am not going to lie to you, it did hurt after. Even in the hospital it hurt pretty bad, but they do give you meds to help with the pain. They will get you up the next day to get you to walk around a little bit. They dont want you to just lay there, but it will hurt. You are in the hospital for about 4 days. Well I was in there for 4 days. I mean its normal to think abut it just n case and I would rather know whats going to happen rather than it be a total suprise to me. it will be fine either way it goes. This is goig to be my second and I am getting nervous all over again. So its normal. Lets just hope your little one turns. Good Luck

Hey ladies. Hope you're all feeling and doing well. I just got out of the hospital...again. On Sunday I was having contractions throughout the day, but they weren't painful. I just felt some pressure and I could tell they were contractions by feeling my belly. I started counting and I was having them 5-6 minutes apart so I called my ob at about 10pm and she said go to labor and delivery and get checked out. So I go in and they find that I am contracting every 3-4 minutes and I dilated 4cm and was 95% effaced. So they gave me a triple dose of procardia, gave me IV fluids and antibiotics (because I have group b strep) and sent me to the birthing suite thinking I might deliver that night. They said I was laboring better than their other patients that were supposed to deliver because my contractions were so consistent. Finally by Monday afternoon the procardia started working and my contractions stopped. They kept me until Wednesday (taking procardia every 4 hours) and still no contractions so they discharged me and I still have to take the procardia at home. Very scary stuff. But at this point I am so ready for baby because this has been such a nightmare of a pregnancy. I will be 33 weeks tomorrow. My shower is next Sunday, the 20th and everyone (including me) is wondering if I'll make it to my own shower. In the hospital I had my 19th ultrasound and they estimate the baby is 4lbs 7oz. I am relieved to have made it this far though. Well good luck to the rest of you!!

les~~ wow, i am so sorry that you are having a hard time with your pregnancy. I would have been scared out of my mind having contractions and going into labor and already being 4cm dilated and 95% effaced at 33 weeks. I turned 33 weeks on Monday and as much as i keep saying that I am ready for her to come, I really am not. I am glad they got them to stop. They more than likely have you on bed rest now, so that you wont have any more hun? Well lady take care of yourself.

Bumblebee....I have had two c-sections and it can be a little scary. I wasn't prepared for my first one when I just could push out my daughter. After 21+ hours of labor it ended in c-section. I would first recommend taking a c-section cla__s, if your hospital offers one. I skipped that part of my birthing cla__s because I was so convinced I didn't need it, boy was I wrong. The best thing you can do is just stay calm during the surgery. It's a little strange being wide awake during major surgery. They are going to move your bladder out of the way and all sorts of things-read up. Another thing that I wasn't prepared for was the pressure you feel when they are cleaning you up and st_tching you up. It's chest pain, it can feel like an elephant is on you chest and it freaked me out. I am thinking-gee am I having a heart attack? No one in the room even warned me that was normal. It caused me to panic and they had to knock me out for the rest of the surgery. It is a sore recovery. One thing I recommend is that if you have any length of a drive home from the host_tal, bring a pillow. Every bump you hit feels pretty c___ppy. If you hold that pillow across your lap on the drive home it can really help with the pain. Another thing I didn't do with my first that I did do with my 2nd is get out of bed as soon as they tell you it okay. The sooner you get moving, the better you'll feel when you have to move around. I am not saying to run a marathon, just getting up and down to go to the bathroom and to get the baby will help. I don't know if you plan to b___stfeed or not, but if you do, don't let a c-section stop you. A nursing pillow will really help lessen the pressure of the baby on your incision. I have a Breastfriend pillow and it was great. I was also in the hospital about four days. This will probably be my third unless I am able to VBA2C. I was worried that having a c-section would cause me to not have as many kids as I wanted, but my doctor told me that they had a patient who had 8 c-section deliveries-as crazy as that sounds. Let me know if you have any other questions. I hope the baby gets in position. Best wishes.

Hey all...went to the dr yesterday and I'm 1cm which unfortunately doesn't mean much lol. However, he seemed to think I could have the baby within the next week or two. I'm really short and the poor baby has definitely run out of room to grow so I'm hoping he makes his appearance soon! Also, I'm pretty sure I lost the mucus plug today? Anyone else have that happen??

sbea - September 12

So I had my doctor Appointment today. He was thinking about doing an internal however, my strep B result wasn't in. So he played it safe and didn't do an internal. The baby is really low now. I am filling pads two light pads a day. I do all the Kegel exercises and I feel like I need a diaper. Anyone else dealing with this? Well I let my mom know that next week the Doctor is going to check me internally and if he can he will strip my membranes. That will put me at almost 38 and a half weeks. So I could have this peanut delivered a little before or on his due date. My mom asked me to ask him to wait until that Monday. I don't know if I want to wait anymore. Well we will see. I might not even be dilated. How many weeks are you Melay? I think you are due right around the same time as me. Well I am not sleeping well and as of today my belly b___ton popped and I have two really small stretch marks. The good news is that the stretch marks are easily hidden by bathing suit bottoms or underwear still. I think i can deal with that. Hope everyone else is doing well.

Hey Melay, I'm pretty sure I lost my mucus plug last week after my first pelvic exam. Not to be too graphic, but it looked like I blew my nose into my panty liner. Got another internal exam this week, and I've progressed to 3cm, 80% effaced and -1 station. The midwife said it could be two weeks or it could be "today" (which was yesterday). She doesn't expect me to go past my due date, at least. Then she put my info in her phone, which was kind of freaky. Nothing's happened yet, and my contractions seem to have slowed a bit in the last couple days. We'll just have to see. My mom is convinced I'll go early, for what it's worth. I'd just like another week, though.

Sbea, I'm 36 and a half weeks...technically still a few weeks, but both my doctor and I would like to see this baby come early! I've been telling him he needs to hold off until his baby shower next Saturday but I've been so uncomfortable today that I've decided I no longer care if either of us make it to the shower...I just want him to get here! :) Wunder, thanks for the feedback...that's kinda what happened to me too. Definitely not pleasant and not something you want to discuss with people...which is why I love forums lol. That's awesome how much you've progressed! I was just pleased to learn I'd made it to 1cm...at least things were happening, but you're well on your way to having a baby :). I've been having contractions everyday for about 5 weeks so I'm almost used to them at this point. Well, I'm excited to start hearing about some births on here! Have a good one everybody!

wunder75 - September 13

Melay - I do feel lucky about how far along I am so far. My friend said that I'm where she was after 8 hours (!) of labor. I really felt lucky after that, but the anticipation is killing me. I do wonder, since I'm this far along, if I will have the cla__sic water breakage, and I'm definitely hoping it's not in public. I hope you make it to 37 weeks and then have the baby soon after that, since you're so uncomfortable. Good luck!

munchmom04 - September 16

OMG..... can someone please tell me what contractions feel like? I have been having this pressure down low and it hurts to walk, and I have been having these bad cramps in my stomach and it gets really hard. I have never had a contraction so I dont know what it feels like. I do go in to the doc on monday the 21st and it will be my 35 week apt. I am going to ask him, but i know he is joust going to say that it is normal and it is probably just the baby pushing down or something. I am scheduled for a c section on the 19th of next month.

sbea - September 16

Munch- I have had some serious pain where my belly was hard, pressure down low and cramping. It turned out it was some serious gas a couple of times (hurt so bad I could stand or walk) and then I got the runs. But then again I don't know what a real contraction feels like since I am a first timer now. BUt I notice Gas pains were common right around 32-35 weeks. Once the baby drops so much better! If it gets to bad and doesn't go away go to emerg or call a health link or something. Could be a serious problem. Hope that helps?

DiGiacomo - September 16

I thought contractions *were* pressure in the lower abdomen along with tightening of the stomach muscles. I have had a few of those over the last couple of days with no gas accompaniment (and I certainly have had lots of gas during this pregnancy). You should be able to tell if they're BH or not by changing activities (e.g. if walking change to sitting/lying down and vice versa) and with how often you are experiencing them (if you're having them every 3-5 mins for about 1 min consistently for 1-2 hrs, you're likely in early labour). Source: my mom (maternity nurse) and our pregnancy cla__s teacher (nurse). Hope that helps! We're all getting so close!! This is getting exciting!!

munchmom04 - September 17

thanks ladies, I guess it is gas. It has stop bothering me as much. It does stop as soon as I sit down and quit moving. Even though it is getting hard to get out of bed. ohh it is getting so close, I just cant wait to see her little b___t.

Samara - September 17

Hello ladies! I'm 24 weeks today, I get the worst trapped gas/acid reflux. Last night I had to fall asleep sitting straight up, i had this gad pain like under my sternum, laying flat made is so much worse! I'm really hoping that she drops soon, but i think I have a few weeks to go. Munch - my BH contracts feel like someone is putting a corset on my lower stomach inside & deep, that make any sense. They don't hurt, just uncomfortable. When I stretch or change positions it stops. Anyone having contractions in their upper stomach? Sometimes I wonder if its gas or a BH contraction. I'm getting so excited, nursery is almost done & hubby is painting it this weekend!

sbea - September 18

Well I have my weekly Doctor's appointment today! I have my fingers crossed I am dilated. Well actually I have to hope I am strep B free so that I could even possibly have my membranes swept. I will keep you posted.

munchmom04 - September 19

I am so excited to meet my little one. I go in to see the doc on Monday. Hubby and my mom still think that she is going to come early even though we have a scheduled date for her c section. I dont know bc I am having more pressure and having a hard time doing alot of walking. So I guess we will see. I want to see her so bad, but at the same time I want her to wait for her scheduled date. It is an important date to me and I would love for her to be born that day. I will be 35 weeks does anyone know when the doc starts seeing you every week? I was thinking that this apt he might tell me that he will see me in a week, but I did not know if he would do it being that I am going to have a scheduled c section.
