Hey Coutney, I am having the same pain around the Vajajay area, like the bones on either side. I have been having soreness there for about a month. I am pleased with my weight gain, think I may have gained 15lbs or so but still have 8 weeks to go. I will probably reach 25-30 by the end which is normal. Starting to get uncomfortable at night like you said.

Hi all - I haven't posted before, but have been following the thread for most of my preganancy...I am due with baby #2 on March 13, but feel almost certain I'll go earlier! I had my daughter at 37.5 weeks, and now, at only 32 weeks I am feeling a LOT of contractions and abdominal pain. Is this normal? My first pregnancy was so easy, and when the contractions started so heavy last week, I felt sure it was pre-term labor, but my midwife checked my cervix and said it must just be braxton hicks and uterine irritability. Anyone else experiencing this? I read that Braxton hicks should only last an hour here and there and I have contractions about 5-6 hours a day most days, and sometimes they are hard! . And for the past week and a half I have been having an incredible soreness in the top of my belly in the evenings...almost a bruised feeling. If this is all normal I can certainly deal with it. For the most part, its not a lot of pain, just extreme discomfort, but I am constantly worried about it! I sit at work all day timing contractions and can hardly concentrate on anything else! any insight???

Hi Mommybri, we are a day apart (I am due March 12th). I think you may be dehydrated. The pain you feel at the top of your belly mabe the baby pushing it's feet up under your rib cage, I often get the same pain especially when I sit for a while. Try drinking lots of water and see if it relieves the braxton hicks for you, it is very common thing to happen.

mommybri - January 15

I think you're right about the dehydration, denise. I have been drinking like crazy, but it never seems to be enough! I can tell by my skin and my hair that I am not getting enough. I had an appt with my midwife yesterday and my cervix is still closed and thick, so at least I know that all this contracting isn't actually doing anything. I feel like I can rest a little easier now! She also verified that it is either knees or feet that are brusing my upper abdomen. It's killing me! I hope this baby moves soon! :)

Good Morning Ladies, welcome to the new mommies who have joined! We went to the dr on Friday, and everything was perfect. We got to hear Penny's heartbeat again, and the dr measured my uterus. I lost 6 pounds in the past two weeks...getting rid of what I gained from the holidays I guess. I am still pounds under what I started at. My dr said it is fine...I am not a skinny minnie. She says I should gain about a pound a week until I deliver which only gives me 8 pounds to gain...which will still put me right at what I started. I guess it is a good thing considering Penny is growing, just weird because I thought I was going to gain like 25-30 pounds. How is everyone else doing with the weight thing? Everyone looking forward to their showers, or have had them yet?

meganmacg - January 19

Hey Courtney- I have gained probably 20 pounds and I'm getting stretch marks on my b___bs and upper b___t area. None on my belly. This is the most I've ever weighed and oddly enough... I love it! I think it's because the only place that really looks big is my belly. The stretch marks are a bummer for me. I just remind myself that my body is doing exactly what I asked of it. And that's pretty awesome. As for the rest of the pregnancy stuff-- my shower isn't until March (I'm due 3/31) and we haven't even touched the room yet. I wanted to get stuff done in early January but since we had -20 degrees for a while there... we decided to hold off on painting! I hope everyone else is doing well.

meganmacg - January 19

Oh yeah... I forgot to add that I get the hiccups at least twice an hour for 2-15 hiccups. I hiccup after I eat, when I'm hungry, lying down, sitting up, awake and asleep. I suppose this is payback for not getting morning sickness earlier in the pregnancy. :)

CourtneyHope - January 19

meganmacg- I never had morning sickness either, and I have always had problems with the hiccups!! I am due March 21st, and my showers are on the 1st and 7th of Feb. My stretch marks (red badges of courage) are all on my belly!!! For not gaining weight, my belly sure has grown, and the d__n stretch marks could be worse, but they are still annoying. I have some trouble getting up and down off the couch, and bed. My hubby thinks it is adorable that I have to ask him for help...he chuckles, and says 'it is so cute that you are prego and you need help up!!'. Sleeping is okay...my hips just bother me if I lay on one side too long. Is this your first?

meganmacg - January 20

Yes, this is my first. And I also have problems with sleeping on one side for too long. My hips and shoulders hurt. I'm such a stomach sleeper naturally that this has been hard.

Morning everyone, comommy: I like Kieran and Keegan more than one of them w/ Cameron. Never really like this name... Hope you're doing well with bedrest. I am not doing that much bit still can't imagine to stay in bed all day long. deniseb: yes i'm due March the 14th but if he's like his father we should expect to meet him end of Feb! (my DH was 3 weeks earlier) - I don't really mind when he comes but still I can't wait any longer to finally see, touch and kiss him. I found it even more difficult now we have stroller, car seat and bed in the house. He is the only one missing to complete the whole thing! About gain weight, I've gained 7kg (15.5lbs) so far. I hope I won't go over 10kg as my OB suspects a "small baby"! Concerning sleeping problem, I think I'm dealing well that as well. The only prob is that my DH loves to sleep in diagonal in the bed, so either I don't have room for my legs or I have his head on top of my pillow..... I used to push him on one side but with such a belly I can't do it anymore! Although I feel tired very easily, I hoover tha appartment and needed 20min to catch my breath! My mum is making fun of me cause I am not working so she thinks I shouldn't be tired as she used to work (and woke up very early when she was expecting) and not remembered to be that tired!!!! "How do you think we did?" that's the only thing she says!!!! glad she is not around. Have a great day, Elodie

Hello Ladies, I am 32 weeks and doing well, due the 21st march, my daughter is on the 17th march, she is hoping i will go early. A birthday gift she calls it, i say utter disaster, they are 17 years apart, so you could imagine. Glad all is going well for you all, have read the forum on and off for a while, thought time to join as i had a question, until i read that some of you have not put on a lot of weight. I also havent and thought this was a bit freaky. when i had my daughter i put on 45kg, but by the time i delivered and lost the fluid, i only put on 1kg myself. this time round i have only just hit the 10kg mark, but i eat all the time, mostly healthy foods fresh vege and fruit, and about 4 litres of water a day. we live in the subtropics, so probably accounts for the water. Dont know what the baby is, last u/s the lady didnt really want to look, was very upset when i left, hope to have another one and find out. Not sure what i would want in any case, so long as the baby is healthy that is my only concern. Seems baby is quiet, sleeps alot, does 360's when it does move, my glucose was low, they seems surprised as i am a plus size woman, i dont eat alot of sweets, hardly ever eat ice cream, but found lately that i love pancakes with maple syrup and ice cream, it is breakfast lately for 2 days a week. My family is amused as i never eat strawberry ice cream or milk, rarely touch milk, rarely eat ice cream, and now i cant get enough of it. Anyone else doing things like this? getting the pain in the hips and the the joints where my legs join, found a really high pillow that levels out my hips, but also found that i sleep for about an hour and half on one side and then have to roll to the other side generally with a pit stop in the centre as my little jelly bean has a habit of resting on my bladder all day and night. This seems to lesson the hurt there anyway, some may find it useful. Also for my lower back we have a rub that has menthol in it, round that getting that rubbed in before going to bed helps to releive the back ache, also great on swollen feet, I con my daughter into rubbing my feet with it, she told me I owe her a great present for her birthday as she finds it hard to wash off her hands, I told her she has my eternal love and I will rub her feet when she has a baby, she said then she will need interest as she doesnt plan on having any until her late late late 20's may not till she is 30 something, i can live with that. enjoy your day ladies, cant wait to chat with you all over th next 8 weeks.

CourtneyHope - January 24

elizabear- I did not realize we are due on the same day!! That is pretty exciting! I am having lots of the same pains as you, and I am plus size as well, so I'm sure we have a lot in common. I have not had weird cravings...cookie cake is my biggest thing right now....can't get enough!! Last night I slept for 11 hours!!! I haven't slept that long in forever, and it was really refreshing. Lately I have been having lots of pains in my hips and pelvis, feels like they are growing wider or something. Sometimes they are accompanied by sharp pains in my v____a area....my dr says it is normal and that it is just my body adjusting for what is to come. Has anyone else had these feelings? This is my first baby, so I am curious as to what it is. I have no clue what contractions should feel like, and if I have even had them yet. All new experiences!! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

elizabear - January 24

Hi Courtney, thanks for the warm welcome. Yeah about now till the end, from memory, it starts to get a little uncomfortable, the aches in the hips and pelvic region, this is due to the softening and spreading and all quite normal. I have had some of those pains in my v____a, they are quite normal like your doctor said, I havent had any for a few weeks now, so maybe they have finished (hears hoping anyway). As for contractions... well they are much like your brax hicks... your tummy will tighten and go hard, a brax hick you will be able to move though or when you laugh etc it will tend to ease away, when you get a real contraction they just keep going until they are ready to stop. That is from my experience anyway, other ladies may describe them differently. So we are due on the same day, i didnt even realize when I was reading. How lovely is that, I bet I wont have my little jelly bean on the 21st though, went 14 days over with my daughter (back then they let you go 2 full weeks over), so we will see what happens, I dont fancy going over, having the poor thing on april fools day, i will never hear the end of it!!!

Hello Elizabear! Finally somebody talking in kg and liters!!!! LOL Concerning your weight gain, I'm just 7kgs and my due date is a week before yours. My OB is not worried at all, when she measure my belly, she sys it's just the right size. My belly is growing but I am not gaining that much weight. Don't complain though! You know every pregnancy is different, 17 years ago you were younger maybe food recommendations weren't the same as they are today, your body already gave birth...all of these can explain your small weight gain! I find it easier to sleep on my right side than the left even though it is recommended to sleep on the left. I can't! I have no problem to sleep. If my bladder wasn't the problem, I would sleep 9-10 hours in a row. I am glad as I hear lots of women complaining not being able to sleep more than 2 hours slot. CourtneyHope: It's my 1st too but don't have any muscular adjustments! I had quite a lot in Oct. Back then, during a week, I just couldn't move but since then so more pain in me tummy. My lower back however is another story! I have been trying everything to smooth the pain but nothing seems really efficient. In the meantime, I ask my husband to ma__sage a bit and i stretch my back the more I can. Have a great day

Ladies, I'd like your opinion on the middle we chose for our boy. The first name is Elouan which French-Celtic. As middle name, and because he'll be American too we love the name Sean but I am a bit concerned, is it a old-fashion name? I mean if he has to come back to the US/English-speaking countries and uses his second name, will it sound weird? Is it like a grand-pa or old uncle's name or is there babies name that way? I don't care not being in the top 10 fanciest names but don't want the name to be "out-of-place"!!! Thanks for your comments! Elodie

CourtneyHope - January 26

Elodie- I think Sean is a wonderful name! We are not using a 'typical' name for our girl either! We are calling her Penny Hope. I like it because it is different. I think that Sean is a very handsome name. Back pain is happening worse and worse everyday! I am not sure if I have felt BH, or contractions yet. I probably have, and just have no idea what it is. We go back to the dr on Friday for our next appt. I wonder if she would be able to tell us how big Penny is? How is everyone else feeling? Getting anxious? Ready for showers?
