My father is a fraternal twin and so is his mother. Can I have twins or would it have to be on my mother's side?

From what I know, and what I've read twins are usually on the father's side and it skips a generation so that would mean you are next in line for twins. My father is a faternal twin and he has pa__sed the twin gene to me, b/c I am now 25 weeks pregnant with fraternal twins (boy & girl.) So you could possibly get pregnant with twins very easily. I never thought it would happen to me and here we are...lol. I always thought it would pa__s me but it didn't.....I'm glad it didn't .....twins are a true blessing. GL to you!

It runs on the mother's side, meaning you. But, even if it does run in your gene pool, the odds are only bumped up a bit. I believe the skipping a generation thing is an old wive's tale. The only reason it would look like it skipped a generation is if a man carried the gene and pa__sed it onto his daughter. He couldn't very well have twins himself, so it would look like it skipped when in fact, it would have been there the whole time.

yes, you could have inherited the gene to hyperovulate from your father.... The strongest link though is when it follows the mother's line. Twinning skipping a generation IS a myth....it has been proven that it isn't consistent enough to be fact. Good Luck to you.
