Hi I just wanted to share that I found a great book on multiple pregnancy's. It's called When your expecting twins triplets, or quads (proven guidlines for a healthy multiple pregnancy) By Barbara Luke and Tamara Eberlein. Barbara has done vast research on improving the outcomes of multiple births and works at a clinic for woman pregnant with multiples at the University of Michigan. I have just started reading this book, but it goes into great detail about how much more calories a pregnant woman with each time of multiple needs to have a healthy baby at birth. Her program is very successful and their babies weight 20 to 35% more average at birth than mothers that are not in the program, and 60% of of their mother give birth at 36 weeks or later. I have read many books on multiples and this one is by far the best and I am still only on chapter 3.

I agree, I read that book and followed much of Dr. Luke's advice throughout my pregnancy. It's a great book and recommend it to anyone having multiples.

I have that book as well, and I'm having triplets. Each high-risk doctor I interviewed, including the one I chose, said to disregard the weight gain guidelines. I also have joined several multiples groups, and lots of triplet moms--those who have followed her advice and those who did not--carried 35-36 weeks whether they gained 40 or 80 pounds. This is one issue that's really made me nervous since I'll be 15 weeks on Saturday and have probably put on 11 pounds at this point (according to the book I think it's supposed to be much more than that). But what is great are the recipes in the back too.

Yeah, am pg with twins and bought the book after reading about it on this site. Now, I am very interested in this thread. Did anyone take the recommended meds (vitamins), change your prenatals etc? I mean 9 tabs per day, seems c_mbersome to me.....anyone?

I have this book too and am also expecting triplets. I have followed her advice closely - even the weight gain. My peri, who is also a resource for the Triplet Connection, swears by the weight guidelines and has designed their entire multiples nutritional protocol around these guidelines. However, I have not "changed" prenatals for any other reason than nausea...and when that didn't help, I went back to my original prescription. I take only a daily does of them...but have added calcium, magnesium and zinc to my diet as well as omega-3 fish oils. Good luck!
