So yesterday I went in for a CVS and they did an ultrasound prior and there were 2 sacs and one baby measuring 11 weeks (which should be right) and one baby measuring 7 weeks with no heartbeat. I had a previous ultrasound at about 6.5 weeks and only 1 baby was seen? Had this happened to anyone. Any chance I will go back later and the other baby will have a heartbeat? Please let me know if this happened to you and what the result was. Thanks

it is possible for a sono tech to miss twins when done early. Maybe one sac was in front of the other....it is hard to say. Unfortunately I have never seen the smaller baby hb reappear after the 7.5 wk mark. IT sounds like a case of vanishing twin syndrome.

I hate to agree, but a h/b should be present at 6+ weeks. If it is VTS, your body will absorb the twin without a h/b and it shoudn't affect the surviving twin. VTS is very common in twin pregnancies. I myself had one at 11 weeks. I am so very sorry.
