Few Questions

We just found out that we are expecting twins- which dont run in either side of our family. we are a little scared as we have a 1 year old and will have our hands full, but nonetheless we are excited. just wondering a few things. is there any way to tell if thier identical or fraternal (we dont know the s_x yet, we are only 7 weeks) based on the ultrasound? or is that another surprise once thier born? they each have thier own sac if that matters. I had a c-section with my son (he was 9 pds and im a very small framed person) is the c-section recovery worse with multiples? and those of you that had twins early, were you still able to get your milk in and br___tfeed? and how big are you towards the end? can you get much done? thanks.

congrats! i have 10 week old fraternal twins. they each had their own sac and placenta. they could tell that they were fraternal because they are boy/girl twins. (i didn't know i was even having two until 22 weeks) i don't know about c-section recovery as i had them v____ally. i carried them for 39 weeks and was HUGE. i was pretty tiny to start and could not believe that i could get that big. i gained 48 pounds. my milk came in 5 days after delivery and i have been nursing them both ever since. they were only 5 days early so i don't know if that made a difference with the milk or not. but i make enough for them both. i am a hair stylist (on my feet all day) so my doc took me out of work at 28 weeks. i would get so tired and it was nice to be able to rest when i needed to. hope this helps and good luck to you!

krissypoo-good job carrying them that long! i dont know how these little peanuts are going to fit, but i guess they will figure it out. when your doc had you stop working, was there any kind of TDI or pay that you could receive or are you an independent contractor? Im guessing that i wont be able to work to far into this pregnancy too. congrats on having a v____al birth and healthy babies. what did they weigh?

i thought the pregnancy would never end! i got disability insurance through my job. i didn't get as much as i would have if i was working, but what i did get helped. it was better than nothing. baby a weighed 5pounds 8 ounces and baby b weighed 5 pounds 13 ounces.

I'm only 21 weeks with twin boys and I look like I ate a watermelon whole, lol. They said the babies were measuring three weeks ahead of the due date. I feel like this pregnancy should be over yet I'm only half way there. I'm still working but not for much longer. They have said the boys were fraternal and identical, I have only one placenta or two that have merged together and since they are the same s_x they said the only true way to tell is by a DNA test when they are born. I guess we’ll just wait and see what happens.

when did you start showing? im a little over 7 weeks but feel like i got a bump going already. or i look really bloated. did you have a lot of stomach gurgling? It seems like after everything I eat, my stomach takes its sweet time digesting it and makes a lot of noise. the double duty al day sickness is the pits. i wish i was in my second trimester already. thought i know i'll be wishing otherwise once im as big as a watermelon...

I could not keep anything down in the first trimester and even into the second. Even now a bad smell will have me loosing everything my stomach can eject. During my first trimester I lost about 15lbs. which I needed in order to prepare my body for this. I started to show at about 15 weeks and by that I mean show, not just looking fat.

congrats to you mmmmom! i have 6 month old twin boys (and 4 other kids) if they are boy/girl it's obvious they are fraternal. if they are the same s_x and have 1 placenta they are identical but if they are the same s_x and have 2 placentas it could be either way. (i think!) it is not always necessary to have a csection with twins, i didn't (even though i was supposed to, but that's a loooong story). my twins wereborn at 36 weeks, while all my other kids were born at 42 weeks, so it was very early for me. my milk came in with no problem but after about a month of trying i gave up nursing because it was too difficult, even though i nursed all my other kids for a year and a half each! i was pretty big at the end, i looked 9 months pregnant when i was 7 months but it all depends on how you usually are because i usually don't get so big, so with twins i just looked alittle bigger than a regular pregnant woman, but much bigger than myself (does that make sense?) by the last 2 months it was hard to stand up fror more than a few minutes at a tie, but i still managed to do things. cut the chicken, sit down. put the spices and stuff, sit down. put it in the oven, sit down. peel the potatoes, sit down. cut them, sit down. put them on the stove, sit down. you get my drift? anyway, good luck to you, take it easy, you'll be fine.

thanks for the feedback. With my first son, i looked like I was having twins, people would say "due anyday now, huh?" when I was 7 mo, so dont know how these little peanuts are going to find much room. but i guess they will. I live on kauai, hawaii and they will not allow a vbac at the hospital here, so I will have to have a scheduled section. Im thinking of having them tie my tubes while their in there, has anyone done that?

mrssolo - August 10

I was thinking of having my tubes tied while they were in there, but I'm only 26 and these are my husbands first two children, I have a son from a previous relationship. I think we might go back to the rhythm method first and then If we decide after then just go have it done. But I don't want to jump the gun. I would really like a daughter, just not another two boys, lol.
