I want twins!!!! I have done a lot of research and wish you could just get a prescription for it. I almost gave up finding a way to get Clomid. I am not going to try until next year but I am worried about all the risks of taking it without a Dr. watching out for me. So I figure just tell them I haven't gotten prego and have been trying for a year, and maybe they will give me a script, but do I tell em I dont always have a period or would my Doc figure out Im tricking her? I just want the chance of twins I couldn't imagine anything making me happier.

Wow Hotrockermom! Twins have a lower iq than singletons? IT IS NOT A FACT THAT TWINS HAVE A LOWER IQ THAN SINGLETONS!! It is a fact some twins do have a lower iq than singletons just like some singletons have a lower iq than twins!!!! It is a fact that multiples have increased risks, that could perhaps cause them to have a lower iq! But NO, simply saying it is a fact twins have a lower iq is simply NOT TRUE!! I have twin boys. I had severe endometriosis and had the laparoscopic surgery they were able to get to most of it but they told me they couldn't get to all of it. I tried to conceive for 7 years, 3 of which were after laparoscopic. I had read somewhere that sweet potatoes helped not only increase your chances of twins but also chances of conception. So I began eating sweet potatoes that I GOT FROM WALMART at least twice a day as well as taking evening primrose, folic acid, and prenatal vitamins. I never took clomid, mucinex, or baby aspirin. After only two months of eating sweet potatoes I conceived my twin sons. Found out I was pregnant in late march of 2010, they discovered I was having twins mid April, found out they were both boys in July, and delivered two perfectly healthy fraternal twin boys November 12, 2010! They weighed 6lbs 11 oz and 6 lbs 13 oz and were 19 inches and 20 inches! I carried them two days shy of 38 weeks. Had to have a c section as try we're both breech. Everything went great, no complications, had my precious babies on a Friday went home that Sunday afternoon. I would have went home Saturday but I had strep b so they made me stay an extra day. My boys have crawled, walked, and talked early! Everyone cannot believe how athletic AND SMART they are! They wear 4t and 5t and if you haven't done the math they are not even 2 1/2! They are potty trained and talking like crazy and love being read too. They are just as advanced as other little ones their age. I have no reason to believe that they will have a lower iq than their peers because they are twins lol! Other people comment all the time on how advanced they are and how healthy they are!! I have been on this site before and never registered until I saw this comment, and felt compelled to register and comment. Yes, anytime you have multiples THE CHANCES of defects, developmental problems and so forth increase. But to simply say it is a fact twins have a lower iq is complete nonsense. There are increased chances twins could have a lower iq because of several factors of increased risks in twin pregnancy but IT IS NOT A FACT THAT JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE TWINS THEY WILL HAVE A LOWER IQ!! Not every twin pregnancy has complications and problems!!! Also, I have seen so many threads about sweet potatoes, yams ect. I laugh when i read people disputing the effectiveness of sweet potatoes concerning twin pregnancy. Or how someone that thinks they know it all provides their two cents about how ridiculous it is. I also find it amusing when others say "oh it has to be a certain yam, not the sweet potatoes you find at Walmart or your local grocer!" Blah blah blah! I CAN TELL YOU SWEET POTATOES FROM WALMART OR YOUR "LOCAL GROCER" ARE EFFECTIVE!! I truly believe the sweet potatoes I ate contributed greatly to my conceiving twins. Yes, I did take folic acid evening primrose and prenatals as well, but I had been taking them almost continuously for the entire 7 years I was trying to conceive! It was not until I began consuming sweet potatoes daily for a few months that I finally conceived. I am currently trying to conceive again! The boys will be 3 this November and I want to keep mine close in age. I have started eating my sweet potatoes, don't know if I will have twins again but I do believe the sweet potatoes increase my chances. Would LOVE to have twins again!! Just love my healthy, INTELLIGENT, precious boys and cannot wait to have another precious baby (or babies)!

I just don't understand why ANY doctor would make a comment that it is a FACT that twins have a lower iq than singletons!! My brother is a physician a__sistant, doesn't even work in pediatrics or neonatal, and he even knows this to be a false statement so why an actual medical doctor would ever make this statement is beyond me!! I can a__sure anyone this statement is not true. Twins are a blessing and just because a woman is pregnant with twins does not automatically mean she is going to have problems and complications that could lead to the babies having a lower iq.

The statistics that twins have lower IQ than singletons were once true, but date from many decades ago, when twins were less likely to get the same nutrition etc. as singletons. It also used to be true that stepchildren had worse health, that's not true anymore either. Hello, it's the 21st century....

I realize this post may be old but I am curious if anyone got pregnant with twins while taking 50 mg clomid, 4 months after a misscarriage? I have no fertility problems, got prego the first month trying that resulted in a miscarriage.

Stories or advice on taking clomid 3-4 months after miscarriage to conceive twins, thanks to all!
