I have been nursing my twins for a month and am having a hard time building up a supply of milk from pumping. was wondering if any of you other moms of twins who nursed have any suggestions on how I could get a supply going?

maybe I should tell you that during the day they feed every 2-3 hours, in the evening they cluster feed about every hour, and at night it's 2-4 hours.

I'm not a mom yet and NO expert... but I was told to read a book called Breasfeeding made simple. This talks about supply and says not to worry too much about it... your body WILL produce what the babies need...
I'm sure there are exceptions and all... I'd ask a lactation consultant or just pump what you can when you can and try REALLY HARD not to stress... they say being stressed out cuts into the supply... try playing some soothing music and just relaxing while pumping... there's my non expert opinion! LOL... hope it helps.
Congrats on your babies!!!!

Well im pg with twins, but Ive nursed 5 other babies..Your milk supply will stablize for a bit..normally they will have a growth spurt about 6weeks when they will nurse even more and that will boost your supply. If your really concerned there are some herbs you can take to boost your supply, fenugreek and blessed thistle. Also your dr could give you a rx for some things to increase yoru supply. I think though if they are gaining weigth at a steady rate, they are more likely getting enough. Maybe they are starting their growth spurt early or they are just really efficient at emptying the b___sts...Also I find that the babies get more from nursing than I can get out of a pump. Pumping is just different than nursing and really can make it difficult to get enough that way..Just keep it up..Your doing wonderful.

If you pump for say 60 seconds after a let down-THEN let the babies nurse you should be abel to get about one to tow bottles a day just with the fore milk. Now, that deosn't have the hind milk...but if sotrage is what you are after...this will help. As the supply get more because of the increased demand, you may be able to get more than that. I nurse only on one side and pump the other side because I have so much dang milk. So I have a shelf in the deep freeze litterally stocked with milk. GL!
