When Did You Find Out -pg117873779188

At what week did they tell you about your multiples? Did they first suspect it because of an ultra sound, two heartbeats (doppler), or feeling a larger than normal uterus?

DaBonkElsMe - May 9

Let me just explain why I asked. Since the day I first tested at 10dpo and got a faint positive, I got this feeling that there were two. I have no scientific basis for this feeling and am currently planning on one, however I am still not so sure and I am wondering if I could still find out that I am having twins or if I am just off my rocker! I am 9weeks pregnant. At my first Dr visit I was barely 6 weeks, so the doctor did not try the doppler or an ultrasound, he said it would be too early. He did feel my uterus and check my HCG levels. My hormone levels were good, a bit high but not out of normal range and he said my uterus seemed a good size for 6 weeks - not big - but a "good size." My next visit is not until next Friday when I will be nearly 11 weeks. I know he will do the doppler then. I am not sure if he will do an ultra sound yet. I will of course ask him if it is possible that I could be carrying twins, but I wondered what you all think about it.

I had no clue. I was measuring on target and didn't have a feeling at all. I did take a hpt about 5 days earlier than I was supposed to and it came out very dark so my HCG levels must have been very high. I found out at 12 weeks through u/s that it was twins. I just want to say that some women that do have the feeling do end up having twins, but most women who have that feeling end up having just one. Congrats on your pregnancy and keep us posted!

I found out at 8.5 weeks. They suspected twins because my hcg level was in the 100,000's. So they did an u/s and sure enough there were 2! This is by the way when I found out I was pregnant. I had no clue...I had symptoms, and took soo many tests, and just though my symptoms were from nursing my 5 month old dd. Anyway, good luck!

Thanks ladies!! I know that "feeling" of carrying two is nothing to go on. And as i said, I am pretty sure that I can count on there just being one baby in there (which is certainly enough). But I will probably have the twin thought in the back of my mind until i know for sure!

I had a FEELING both times I was pg with twins, I unfortunately lost my 3yr dd's twin, but Im now carrying twins, Im 15.5 weeks which is much further than I lasted the last time. I told my dr that I had dreams that there were 2 and that i had a strong feeling, I was 9 weeks when I went to see her..she did a quick scan in the room and sure enough there were 2...its highly possible...I dont think my hcg levels were high, never had them checked but i will tell ya that I didnt get a BFP till 13dpo..i tested at 11, and 12dpo and didnt get a good POS line till 13dpo..Good thing Fri isnt too far off...I go on Mon..Please keep us posted...p.s Im not sure how the doppler works with twins cause I know it would be hard to determine which was which. Just tell your dr your concerns and that you would really like for him/her to check things out for peace of mind..GL

Yeah, I don't know. I am a__suming it is one baby. But for some unknown reason i just can't shake this feeling that there is two. I never thought about it before, didn't "try for twins" or even hope for twins, so it's weird that I just started thikning it right away. I will let you know what happens at my appointment NEXT Friday, a week from tomorrow! Thanks again!

Good luck at your appt! :) You know, eventhough I had no clue when I was actually pregnant with twins, but I did always "know" I would have twins. So you never you your feeling could be right! :)

normaly when pregnant you cant feel your uterus until 12 wks gestation but with twins you should be able to feel at about 10 wks, lie on your back on the floor and your looking for a firm rounded large orange type thing at the base of your tummy just a above your pubic bone, if there is not anything obvious chances are its just the one, dopplers are not often used in multiple pregnancys untill later in gestation, no idea about hcg levels dont think english worry about them to much, lol. obviously a scan is only way of being sure of twins or more xx

ZenGirl - May 12

Dabonk, i was pondering the same possibility. i tested a quick positive at 9 dpo and after thinking about it, wondered if it maybe because there were 2?? twins do run in my family. my grandmother was a twin and my sister has twins. and the wierd thing is that without any prompting my husband started talking about twins with a huge grin. Personally , i look forward to having one but if there are two then that is what we will have!! Keep us updated on what you find out :))

OK, so i tried the lay on my back and feel for my uterus thing, and I don't think i feel anything like you are describing. I do feel a sort of soft ridge down about 2 inches from my belly b___ton, but as I was pressing it made me feel liek i had to pee, so maybe that's just my bladder? Definitely no rounded orange-like thing yet. So, I am going to go with the most likely answer of there just being one baby! Which is great, I don't know how I would handle twins! I will still pop back in and let youknow how my appointment goes on Friday! Thanks again for all of your comments!! Happy Mother's Day to all you moms!!

DaBonkElsMe and ZenGirl-I can relate to what you are feeling. I also got an early postive at 9 dpo. This is my 4th pregnancy and with my other 3 I didn't get a positive until about 15 dpo. I realize every pregnancy is different and there could be different reasons for the early positive. But, I also have had an underlying 'feeling' in the back of my mind that I can't explain. With my other pregnancy's I was very lucky in terms of symptoms (no m/s, no nausea, and I remained very energetic until the end). I basically feel the same way so far with this one ( although i know it's still very early) other than frequent urination during the night. Twins do run in my family (mother's side-fraternal-every generation) Realistically and statistically , I know it is probably one. I just wanted to share with you that I also have a feeling. We should check in with each other to see if any of our 'feelings' are actually confirmed....

You girls are so nice. Thanks for all your comments. Well the verdict is, it's just one healthy baby!! I did not have an u/s yet, but he felt my uterus and said it is a normal size. I told him I wanted to be sure it was just one!! I heard the heartbeat (AWESOME by the way) and we only found one, so he said I could opt for an u/s if i wanted to, but that he would be pretty shocked if there was more than one in there. He also said stranger things have happened!! LOL but I am satisfied that my feeling was just that and nothing more. I am very happy to have one healthy little bean, whose heartbeat was strong!! YAY! Good luck to all of you and your multiples and thanks again!!
