I'm 8 weeks pg w/ twins. I have all day morning sickness, I throw up about once a day and am nasusous all day long. My doc just perscribed me zofran. I have been looking up on the internet about it and there doesnt seem to be any studies of pg moms on it. have any of you taken it? does it work well? is it safe? I have not tried it yet. I am one of those crazy moms that wont take anything while pregnant. I hade bad m/s with my first son and it didnt go away till about 6 mo and for the first 3 mo i was throwing up 2-3 times a day. every day is getting worse right now, anyone got some good suggestions. I think ive tried every natural remedy out there.

I took this when I was pregnant with my first daughter. I had hyperemisis gravidum so bad that they ended up having to install a feeding tube. After she was born, she actually weighted more than my second daughter, whom I gave birth to a year later. She also was found to have a very high IQ and was moved up a grade in school. By the way the morning sickness will slowly fade away starting at about 5 months. The only things I could even fathom eating were potato chips, crackers, chicken broth, and canned cream soups. STAY AWAY FROM MILK PRODUCTS. It takes longer to digest and will sit in your stomach and make you sick. Good luck!!

I'm about 23weeks with twin boys. I took Zofran for a few weeks in the begining, but my insurance would not cover it for m/s. I had to take some other antihistamine and it did not work as well. I lost over 15lbs. the first few months now at almost 6 months I feel much better and can eat. The first month I was feeling better I put on 5 lbs. I found if I just took the zofran in the morning and ate small amounts through out the day I was fine. make sure you eat in the am and then the rest of the day is better. I also used fruit flavored sucking candies like Jolly ranchers and that help to tame the nausea. Good luck it will pa__s soon, at least it did for me.

mmmom, sorry you feel so poorly, zofran is a wonderful medicine and I'm sure your OB would never perscribe anything that would be harmful to your babies. Stay hydrated, drink small amounts of liquid frequently and put something on your stomach like crackers before you even get out of bed. The weightloss, electrolyte imbalance and increase in uterine irritability is much worse for the babies than addressing the vomitting. I also know of a peds nurse friend that swears by sublingual B12 to help w/nausea. Hope you feel better soon!

hi - welcome to motherhood (wink wink) - i took it with my 2 y/o DD (after reglan failed me) and after losing 9 lbs that was the only thing that had me feeling any better. my DD is now bilingual and highly intelligent per my pediitrician. i agree the OB wouldn't give you anything that wasn't safe. *FYI my prescription was $728 - and worht every penny.

Zofran works wonders. I lost 14 pounds my first trimester, and zofran was the only thing that worked for me. Now I'm actually starting to put on weight.
