Is 5 Weeks Too Early For Ultrasound To See Anything

I found out that i was pregnant yesterday with an ept. This morning i used the bathroom and saw some small bloodclots after i wiped. I went to the ER and their test showed positive as well. But the ultrasound showed nothing. They tell me that it could be that it's too early to see or that I already lost it. Is it possible to miscarry and not know??? They told me to come back on monday to do more bloodwork and to come in tuesday to see if the levels went up or down. I'm sick with worry. According to my last period I'm about 5 weeks. Is it too early to detect anything at 5 weeks?

when i had a sono at 5wks it just looked like a small sac but when I went back in 3wks it had grown to a peanut shape with little arm and leg buds and was moving with a strong heart beat!! So just go back in a week like they said or go to your own doctor that would even be better Good luck!!

They did both. I was staring at her face and she looked weird so I asked if she saw anything. All she said was the people in radiology would take a look at it. I am home stressing. All of a sudden I don't feel the syptoms I was feeling just yesterday. Don't know if it's cuz I'm worrying.

At 5 wks it can be difficult to see the conceptus.

Generally with a transviginal ultrasound the earliest you can see a gestational sac is 4.5 weeks and the yolk sac at 5 weeks. You may not be 5 weeks along. It is still very early. There are many women that have posted that didn't see anything until 7 weeks along.

Try not to worry. That happened to me last year and my gyn told me before he did the scan that he was not expecting to see anything and we did not.He sent me for 2 blood test 2 days apart to check hormone levels and I went back at 8 weeks and we saw the heart beating.Try to relax and rest.

Well, it's sunday and I go do the bloodwork tomorrow morning. I still feel a little nervous but your post really are helping. I keep reading them every 10 minutes or so trying to rea__sure myself. I'm still using the bathroom a lot but I don not feel nauseous. My b___st hurt a little bit around the nipples and under them. I haven't had any spotting or cramps since the last time so I am trying to stay hopeful.

Hello. I saw a little dot on the screen and the gestation sac at 5 weeks! It's not too early too tell. At 7 weeks I heard the heartbeat..

5 weeks can be too early to see anything....everybody is different. Just because somebody saw their baby at 5 weeks doesn't mean you should too. Good luck

I went in for an u/s at five weeks and they didnt see anything the doctor told me to come back in 10 days and we would discuss my options if we still didnt see anything....10 days later there was a baby and a heartbeat...i also have a tilted uterus which makes things worse...But i wouldn't worry 5 weeks is way early!!!

I don't know how long ago this was posted but I am LITERALLY going through the same thing. I have to go back for more blood work too and I was just telling my husband that I don't feel the symptoms I was feeling yesterday. My bleeding has almost stopped and the cramps have stopped too but I am nervous for the blood work. What did your blood work say?
