can my wife get any kind of disibility or some other form of disability when on maternity leave in ny state? anyone know if there is ANYTHING she can get, even if not planning on returning to her job.

In Wisconsin it depends on your employer. I got short-term disability at my job, it covered part of my maternity leave. She should talk to her boss and find out. If she isn't working, I don't think there's anything you can do... but I'm not in NY. If she's not planning on returning to her job, for goodness sakes, don't tell them! lol. I think you have to actually return for a few days, might depend on the job though... and I'm not sure if they could make you pay back some of your maternity leave pay or what. That being said, a lot of women do that. I hope you can make it work. ~spam
