I am 19, and have been married for one year. My husband is 22, and has a full time job with wonderfil insurence. I have been around kids since I was very young; my mother owns a daycare at her home. I have now in my 2nd year of college. OK, now my questian. I want to have a child, but I am worried about it. I know that I am ready in every possible way, and so is my husband. I just know that I want to finish school Is it REALLY hard to go to school and have a baby? HELP

I have a five week old daughter, and I am in my third semester of college. It is not really that much harder, in my opinion, but that is just from my experience. It just depends on your situation.

It is fine when you have a newborn, but toddlers usually do not like having attention taken away from them, so expect a lot of whining when you're doing your homework. My advice is, finish school first. Also, do you want to be a stay at home mom? If you do, it would be kind of silly to finish school and then get pregnant. Many places would not want to hire you because of the gap between the end of your education and the beginning of your career.

I also wanted kids from very young, but didn't find the right person (my dh) and get married until 24. I was out of college and had a few years of work behind me, but there are pluses and minuses to that. You sound ambitious and at your age probably have the energy to handle a baby and school. Just something to think about though if you want more than one child. How far apart do you want them? How will this affect your schooling/future career? I'm a stay-at-home-mom of 3 now, which is nice, but money is TIGHT and there are some sacrifices and drawbacks. One being that it would actually cost us more for me to go back to work (for professional clothes, gas money, child care, etc). This is temporary until my youngest is a bit older and the older two are in school, but it's something to consider. On the other hand, having kids younger means the parents have more energy AND you'll still be pretty young when your kid(s) leave the nest... Oh, yeah, and flower.momma is right. Newborns are pretty easy, it's older babies and toddlers that make it tricky to do ANYTHING!! Best of luck to you. Sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and will make a good mama whenever you decide... Tammy
