2 Month Old Feeds Every Hour During Day

My baby boy is 2 months old. He sleeps through the night, I even have to wake him to feed him once. However during the day he eats about once an hour. I am just curious if this is the norm?

This is allot of nursing. I would stretch it to every 2 1-2 hrs at that age. Unless you enjoy constantly nursing, but he wouldn't need it.

My son did that for awhile. It's totally normal because a b___stfed baby should eat every 1-3 hours from the time you start. By 6 weeks my son was sleeping through the night and I didn't wake him. I think you only need to wake them at night when they are first born. Once they are consistantly gaining weight and eating enough during the day you shouldn't need to wake him. Ask his doctor to confirm. Try to entertain him in other ways if you think he really isn't hungry. Some babies love to suck and find comfort in this. I sometimes use a binky and hold him against my chest as if I'm b___stfeeding him. My sitter has to do that sometimes when she knows he isn't hungry since she can't b___stfeed him obviously. If he is truly hungry, feed him. Try to entertain him in other ways like changing his diaper, going for a walk around the block.

Jen, it depends on how much he sleeps. If he is up for only 8 hours a day then feeding every hour is normal and he would have 8 feedings.

if he's sleeping through the night i wouldn't change a thing! any tweeking to his feeding schedual could spoil those restful nights. if your okay with it i'd just keep feeding hom whenever he's hungry. he'll slow down on his own in time.
