Hi, I m currently on full-time br___tfeeding, however I hv the following problem during br___tfeeding and thus need some valuable advice. My baby is only 11 days old. 1. Baby will fall asleep fast only after a few minutes of br___tfeeding, how do I know if the baby has enough milk ?? 2. Is the volume fr the pump-out (abt 2-3 oz) similar to the volume which the baby br___tfeed ?? 3. How do I increase my milk production ?? I hv tried balance diet ... Pls advice. Thanks. Regards, Liang.

1. Some babies are efficient nursers and will get all they need in only a few minutes. Is the baby wetting 8-10 diapers a day? Is the baby having bowel movements? Does the baby seem content? If so, then the baby is probably getting enough. 2. No, the baby will get more than the pump. No pump is as efficient and motivated as a baby. 3. Breastfeeding is a demand = supply system. Increased frequency of feedings will increase b___stmilk supply. Conversely, limiting feedings will result in decreased supply. Helpful websites: La Leche League, kellymom.com, b___stfeeding. com

Keep doing what you are doing. If your baby isn't gaining weight fast enough, your ped will tell you. Also, keep track of urination, as Michelle suggests. Drink lots of water and relax. Let the baby nurse as often as it wants for a couple of weeks to get things rolling.

some women find that fenugreek supplements and oatmeal will help up their milk production but the BEST way to keep a good supply is to nurse and nurse often. you sound like your doing a great job keeping up with your baby. keep going!
