Choosing Not To Breastfeed Due To Breast Surgery

I need some advice on how to keep from producing milk. I had br___t augmentation surgery 3 years ago, and I have decided to bottlefeed. How can I stop the milk from coming and dry up existing milk?

I don't think you can keep yourself from producing milk - it's already started if you're pregnant. you'll just have to not nurse and let it dry up. talk to your doctor. I think they have meds to help it along.

Yeah- you can't stop it from coming in, and lemme tell you, it is going to hurt. I think you'll have to wear a good supportive bra 24/7. Cabbage leaves tucked in your bra supposedly help too. I would talk to your doc about it because I think mia is right about meds available to help with that. Just wondering, is the b___st augmentation the only reason you aren't nursing or is it something else? I thought having implants didn't preclude one from bf'g.

You don't HAVE to choose bottle feeding because of b___st surgery. I hope your doctor told you that. It is a your personal choice. Your body will make the milk no matter what, and you can't stop it from happening. The cabbage leaves can help a lot with the pain, but it will take time to dry out.

It only took a couple weeks for mine to dry up. that's without meds. and it's not like during those couple of weeks, I was leaking all over the place either. only after I got out of the shower. that was the only time it was painful for me, too. was in the shower when the water was hitting them. didn't hurt the rest of the time. Hope this helps.
