Increasing Milk Supply When Pumping

I need suggestions for technique and/or how to increase my milk supply when I'm strictly pumping right now (babe is still in NICU)? So far I peaked at Day 4 of pumping and have had increasingly reduced yeilds every pump... almost not worth the effort. Suggestions? P.S. We're using the Advent Isis pump.

Don't worry it will come in. Baby is only 4 days old it can take about a week to really get a good flow. This happened to me my daughter was in the NICU for 2 weeks and it was slow for about the first 5 days then it came fast and no way to slow it down. You should be pumping at least every 2-3 hours till baby gets home. Good luck!!!!!!!

Avent Isis is a manual pump, right? You need to be using the heavy-duty, dual-action, we swear its just like baby, hospital version b___st pump. The big electric, hospital grade pumps are more effective (usually) in building up your milk supply. Have you spoken to the lactation consultant or the nurses at the NICU? One of them should be able to hook you up with the type of machine you need. Many hospitals also have rental programs so you can take the pump home with you. You can find more info on pumping at b___stfeeding.com or La Leche League's website. I wish you the best and don't give up. You are doing what is best for your baby.
