Nipple Piercing

Does anyone br___tfeed with a nipple piercing? I have a ring in my nipple, and I am planning on keeping the hole open (obviously i will be removing it while i am feeding, no choking babies!) But i was wondering if anyone else had one and fed while the hole was open. I have had it for over a year. But since i got preggers i have noticed that there is a lot more discharge on my ring, and also it smells like a earring does, (ya know, that weird smell). I know its not infected, but just curious. God, look at that ramble! LOL

I had both nipples pierced for 3 years prior to becoming pregnant. At the advice of my OBGYN I removed it as soon as I found out. Even though my holes were well clear and healed she said it leaves you open to infection and will only cause difficulties if still pierced. They were nearly healed shut by the time Blake was born. As painful as b___stfeeding was for me in the beginning I was really glad that I had removed them. This is just my experience. Maybe someone else has had success with their rings still in? I would like to hear if so.
