I have a Medela Pump in Style pump and my milk will not let down unless I am feeding my daughter at the same time, which is quite a juggle. Has anyone else had this problem? Or is this pretty normal.

sometimes is has something to do with stress.
When I went back to work, it was hard for me to let down also. You try to pump quickly because of the work load you have and you do not want to take too much time pumping.
When that happened, I would close my eyes and go through the ritual to make my body relax. I would take deep breaths in and out.
Once my body was relaxed and I was calm, I was able to let down.
It also helps looking at a picture of your child.

I had the same pump and same problem. What helps me is putting a warm/hot pack on for about 10 minutes before I pump. It lets down quicker and finishes faster.

i haven't delivered yet so i can't speak from experience, but i learned in a cla__s that your body does not respond to a pump the same way that it responds to your baby. so in that sense, yes, it is normal.... but frustrating! i think the other suggestions are great but i just wanted to say that i've been taught that's a natural thing..

It is very common to have a stronger let down while nursing your baby. If you have larger nipples one other thing you can try is ordering larger flanges (the cone part) from Medela this sometimes helps you pump quicker.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I let down once without feeding at the same time. I have a two year old and a four year old tottering around the same time I pump, so that might have something to do with it.
