I am a b___st momma, but someone on Infant Care shared an interesting equation that her lactation consultant gave her to figure out how many ounces a bf baby needs. Multiply your baby's weight by 2.5 and divide it by the average number of feedings a day. That will give you a rough estimate of how many ounces your baby should be taking. For instance, if your baby weighs 10 lb, multiply it by 2.5 which = 25. That is the total number of ounces of b___stmilk a day that your baby needs. Divide that number (25) by the average number of feedings, let's say it's 10, and you get 2.5 which is the number of ounces per feeding the baby should get. I don't know how legit the equation is, but it's interesting.

My little guy is 6 weeks old. I just started pumping and bottle feeding him b___stmilk three days ago because he was just not getting the hang of latching properly and I was in so much pain! Anyway, I just feed him until he is satisfied. Most times it is what I pump, but a few times I have had to also give him an ounce or two of formula after he finishes the b___stmilk. But that 2.5 x weight equation is good too.. I have seen it in several books.
