I Don T Know If My Baby Is Eating Enough

my daughter is 4 days old, and she only wants to eat like 3 or 4 times a day...yesterday she only ate 2 times, every time i tried to feed her, she didn't want my br___t...today she has only eaten 3 times...should i be conserned or will she start eating better in the next few days...she was only born just 4 days ago and she only weighs 5 lbs. 8 oz....any help would be greatly appreciated..thanks

Is she sleepy or actually refusing? At any rate, you should see a doctor for a check up and advice. That's not enough, not even close. Yes, you should be concerned.

i'd be concerned too. do you have a lactation consultant you can talk to? is she loosing weight? is her soft spot "sunken in"? how many diapers is she going through? any jaundice? i'd call the doctor.

I would call your daughter's pediatrician and ask questions. She should be having at least 6 feedings a day. Did your milk come in yet?

i would call your pediatrician immediately. your daughter should start wanting to eat more once your milk comes in, and it should have already or will very soon. she's so tiny, i believe she should be eating far more than that...at least 8 times, if not 10 times a day...or every 2-3 hrs. my son had probs with the b___st for the first 4 days and my pediatrian told me to supplement with a bit of formula AFTER using the b___st as much as he would want...just to make sure they're getting enough.
