I'm trying to schedule my second c-section. The date I want to choose (for various reasons) will date my pregnancy at 37 weeks 6 days. One day short of the 38 days which is typically the earliest they will do them here in Canada. I figure, what is a day? My dr is concerned about the baby's lungs, and would prefer to wait until 38 1/2 weeks. Has anyone had an early c-section and the baby gone on to have lung issues? I'm trying to make an educated guess, but I'm getting LOTS of opposition. My research generally shows that 37 weeks, 6 days is safe (I mean really, if it is late in the day, it's only a few hours short of 38 weeks) but I want to know if even 38 weeks is too early?

I'm in the U.S. and my doctor wanted to schedule mine a week before my due date. They don't wan't you to risk your ueterus rupturing if you go into labor (which is why they want to do a repeat c-section). I would wait the extra week because they do SO much growing in just a few days.

It's probably okay, but can't they do an amnio to check on the lungs?
