Hi I have had 3 previous c/sections and In now thinking of having a fourth child. Wondering if anyone else could tell me of there experiences having more than three! thanks

lovemy3 - October 21

Hi there. I have had 3 sections and am ttc my fourth right now. The things my dr warned me about were uterine rupture, placenta accreeta, placenta previa, placenta percreeta and then the risk of blood tranfusion was 1/10 for a fourth section, hemmoraging during surgery. he also stated the obvious risk of blood clots due to surgery, infection and future adhesions. I go to a high risk fetal medicine clinic in a downtown hospital and feel comfortable there but I would not be will do this in any other hospital. Good luck.

i am pregnant with baby #4 and will be recieving my baby treatment at the hospital here, I will also ask a high risk OBGYN to deliver my baby. My csection scar is suppose to be 2 cm thick mine is only 2 mm, it was discovered with my 2nd csection. If this baby is sunny side up like my first it can kick through my uterus, I was lucky my last pregnancy my baby ws head down facing in so Im hoping the same this time around.

Hi I have an appointment next week to find out the thickness of my uterine scar and all the surgery details of my last 3 c/sections. Its all a bit scary isnt it? My last 2 babies were premature ( 31 & 36 ) weeks so that complicates things a bit more. How far on in your pregnancy are you? Do you no if you will have to be hospitalised later in your pregnancy to be monitored? I have so many Questions because where i live more than 3 c/sections arent really that common!!!!!!

I will be having my 3rd c-section in march less than 12 mos after my last one.Im very uptight and nervous about it.Sometimes my scars hurt real bad or they start burning.I have two different scars and they crisscross.

Turean - October 28

Hi Rhonda I found that with my third aswell although I had more time between my 2nd and 3rd. I did find I couldnt stay on my feet for to long and I did get that burning sensation quite a bit. Do you get much help? I found putting my feet up for a short time frequently helped. But it is easier said than done with small children to run around after! I m sure you will be fine. Did you have any complications with your last c/section?

my first i was 10 days late, my 2nd 10 -14 days early and my 3rd was 11 days early. turean I am unsure if they can tell how thick the uterine scar is by u/s I was told right there when my dr was delivering my babies, he actually said for my dd "your baby has alot of hair" and I said you cut into me. i didnt feel the release of the fluid or the pulling to get the baby out and he said "no i can see right through the scar on your uterus , I can see the fluid and the hair on the babies head". now that scares the crud outta you, in turn with my last csection he cut me wider and had to remove scar tisse to make sure I healed right. Unfortunatly because of an appendix scare I was left open until another surgeon came in and gave the ok that my appendix was fine and I could be sewed up that I was more swollen and my stables started comming out the next day. My scar burned and it still does in one spot about an inch long on my left side. hey rhonda sweety!

Hello Turean,i do get some help just not alot and im always on my feet.At times my scar will just start burning real bad for no apparent reason and my scars are still sore at times. You can tell they messed up on one side when they stapled me up and i had a couple staples that were barely in there.Im worried pretty much about having another c-section but im praying all goes well.Hey Kendra honey.

Turean - October 29

Hi there I hope and pray all goes well for you Rhonda. I am nervous about my appointment this week at my gynies aparenlty they measure the thickness of your uterus during your previous c/sections and record it so I will be finding out all that info. Altough I no they wont tell me I cant have another baby I am worried they will advise against it. I am seperated from the father of my other 3 children and my partner and I have been together for some time now and it seems natural to us to have a baby together now. He has no children of his own so it would be great to complete our wee family! I am worried about complications though as ive had a few. With my 1st they left placenta behind in my uterus and I got septasemia and had to have it removed by dnc 6 weeks later. I told eveyone that something wasnt right but no-one believed me. I think because I was a teenage mum I didnt no what I was talking about. With my 2nd I haemoraged at 32 weeks, he was footleg breech we almost lost him. And the list goes on!!! Please tell me its all worth it in the end right ladies?! Hope you are both well.

Rhonda - October 29

Turean, your feelings are so normal girl. And yes in the end it is very well worth it honey.I know it can be tough you just gotta stay strong girl.

slowpoke01 - November 20

my step-sister had 4 c-sections. her first was an emergency and they did it up and down she lost that one at 14 months old he stopped breathing. she then had 2 girls and the doc told her that he didnt care if she tried for a boy one more time but that was all she could have well she ended up with another girl but they are all tom boys so i guess that it worked out. the first she had placenta previa and went into labor like 3 months early and the doctor let her lay in labor until they couldnt find a heartbeat on the baby and my stepsister almost died too. but the other 3 went fine.

Crysi - December 4

I have had 3 c-sections and am now preg with my 4th, I'll have to have it c-section too. I'm a little nervous myself thanks for asking the question.

Turean - January 16

Hi Crysi, I am now pregnant with my 4th so didnt have to try for long only 2mnths!!! Im about 13wks now and im nervous bout having a fourth c/section how far along are you and how are you feeling?

djh - January 16

I had four in FOUR years! Not on purpose, LOL. I will be honest, it was no picnic and I have had a lot of issues with that many ab surgeries. I ended up with a total hysterectomy later due to scar tissue, adhesions, and adenomyosis (an abnormal uterine lining condition r/t uterine surgeries that caused horrendous bleeding, pain, and clots with AF). I did require blood transfusions for my last two c-sections and my last was pre-term due to a irritable uterus...BUT, we are all here to tell the tale. I wish I could say it was a piece of cake, but it wasn't. I didn't find my fourth all that great, but I had the pre-term baby, the NICU, the three little tiny ones at home, an infection, bleeding, a tubal ligation and just for good measure they took my appendix out so I hopefully wouldn't need to get cut open again! I think if there has been some time between, you healed well from the others and your doc says you don't have a thin scar, what the heck. I am not a fan of c-sections as most people know, but if you have to, you have to so talk to your docs and good luck to you all.

snugglybugglys - January 20

I had 4 c-sections, and still didn't get my tubes tied. My first was 4/7/03, 2nd w/twins, 4/1/04, 3rd 4/6/05, 4th 12/17/06. I had no complications at all....great recovery...and my dr said my uterus looks great, that I could have more kids if I want to. Good luck with your decision!

DownbutnotOUT - January 20

Well due to my thin uterine scar I am getting more scared as my EDD is approaching. I was told by my OBGYN that delivered my 2nd son and daughter that I would more than likely need a hysterectomy if I ever got pregnant and he also told me I will more than likely rupture, not carry past 28 weeks, and might even die. Well I am 19 weeks and 6 days and have started spotting blood again and they dont know where its comming from so im more worried. I should get to my point, I am thinking about maybe asking to be put under for the birth of this baby in case the need to do the hysterrectomy im already asleep but than hubby and I miss the birth. Im scared of being awake though and than needing to be put asleep. Im not 100% sure how they do hysterectomy's, I know what it is, I just dont know the procedure.

lovemy3 - January 22

Your dr told you will most likely rupture and possibly die and you are not being hospitalized? If they say you will most likely rupture you should be waiting it out in the hopsital not rupturing in the local supermarket. I would be finding another dr, that doesn't sound right to me.
