Breeched Autumn Will Be Here Tuesday Read Me

Well, I asked my doctor for a ultrasound two weeks ago and he said no its to late. But at my last appointment on Thursday he said he thinks she might be breeched come into the hospital tomorrow night for a ultrasound. So after waiting for like an hour the doctor finally came in and sure enough she is breeched. Because her head is up top and her heart beat can be heard down low they sent me over for a professional ultrasound. Still breeched. So unless she is really stubborn like me and her daddy we will be seeing her Tuesday around 5pm. I wasn't looking forward to a c-section but it does take the pressure off waiting and playing the guessing game. I am going to call Monday to see if by any chance someone went into labor over the weekend or cancelled. That way we can do it on Monday which is my boyfriends birthday. Not sure if I should be scared or not. But I am excited to know only a few more days. Any one had a c-section and can recommend anything... Things to take for the 3 day stay or afterwards... Any advice? I keep reading that there is only like a 3-4% chance of having a breeched baby.... And sure enough I get to be part of that %. Like I said if she is anything like me we will be seeing her before Tuesday or she will turn. She moves alot so she has me a little worried she is just tricking us. At least for the moment I can relax and enjoy my last few days and not worry about any pain. I hope every one else is doing great. Best of luck.

Hi Autumn2006. Not sure what you mean by not worrying about any pain, but congrats on your upcoming birth. With a c-section there will be pain after the birth so take your meds as they are offered. Use a pillow pressed against your incision when coughing. Use your side rails to turn and when you get up for the first time, try to stand as straight as you can and walk very slowly. Get moving as soon as possible even though it hurts because gas pains under you brand new incision are worse than labor pains IMO. They have excellent pain management nowadays so you should be okay, but your bladder may hurt when you urinate for the first few times and your first BM you may not want to "let go" as the contractions to expel it will hurt. Do it though, you do NOT want gas :>[ Take the normal stuff you like, lotions, book, magazines, hairbrush, gla__ses, camera, outfit for the baby to come home in. Bring clothes that will not hit your incision for the day you leave the hospital. You will still bleed of course and if you don't like the huge maternity pads, bring your own smaller maxi pads. Arrange for help when you get home as you will probably need it. Do not overdo it for the pain will be worse. While on pain meds you feel fair enough, and then you go walking up and down stairs, try to do laundry or something and then it hits you, a sheer exhaustion and pain that is hard to calm down. Just remember, even though it is a scheduled surgery, the body just sees it as a large trauma so respect your body and give it time to recover not only outside, but inside. Hope your baby turns before Tuesday for you, but good luck either way.

Thanks for all the advice. Well, when I said no pain I was talking about the labor pain. I know afterwards I am going to be in some pain for a few days but I am sure its nothing compared to being in labor for hours and pushing... All thought that is what I wanted and feel a little sad I am going to miss. I have a lot of help from family and friends. My boyfriend works two jobs and he can't wait to be able to take the time off to wait with me until I am released. Do you know about the b___stfeeding? I am dead set on b___stfeeding but I heard something about maybe not being able to for awhile. I really appreciate the advice.Thank you.

Autumn- I've had three c-sections and don't really have any more advice than SusanJ. As for b___stfeeding- I did with my three. The biggest advice that comes to mind is to be patient with your milk. Mine didn't come in until day 4-5 and by that time my babies were hungry and screaming and it was VERY emotional, but it will eventually come in. I thought it would come in by about day 2 with my oldest, so I was surprised by that one! The baby does kind of press against the incision while b___stfeeding, but if you take your meds, it should be ok. Good luck:-)

Thank you. I just ran through my what to expect when your expecting book to get all the highlights on c-sections and breech babies. That book has been like a bible to me. I was told that my boyfriend gets to video tape it... I just hope he doesn't pa__s out. I really want to watch but I am not if the doctor will let me. I rather watch then to lay there and wait and guess what they are doing. I think I got everything I need... At least I hope. We have to buy my boyfriend a portable game so doesn't get to bored waiting with me. I hope they have cable because I can't miss csi las vegas... It looks to good. They also said that I might not be able to eat like 12 hours before.... I am sorry but I can't survive with out something. I want to go to dinner tomorrow night and eat the biggest steak and eat the biggest cake they have... Thank you for the advice.

Hehe- steak- I hear ya! When they said I couldn't eat or drink after midnight I was mad- my surgery wasn't until 2 pm the next day!!! But, they said I could drink clear liquids up until 3 or 4 hours before the surgery. I know you want your yummy meal before baby, but I would suggest you make it early enough that it is out of that 12 hour range. Because, let me tell you, even with not eating for over 12 hours AND taking laxatives afterward I was severely constipated. I didn't go for over a week and it wasn't fun when I did, so you might not want a steak hanging around in there for a week LOL.

Lol. They said to be there at 3pm but I won't go into surgery until 5pm. Whats with the 2 hour wait. I know they paperwork and Iv but 2 hours. I am already stay there for a few days. I hate staying at the hospital... I hate staying away from home. I want to get a steak and lots of A1 sauce... My girlfriend wants to get together tonight maybe Logans steak house for dinner....Yum. That should give me sometime... Will they let you drink slim fast... or chocholate milk? Because I know with my pregnancy memory I won't remember and I will end up eating. I did that the other night after I made plans for dinner.
