Hello ladies...I am 37 weeks pregnant. I have a c-section scheduled on Sept 26th because my baby is breech. My due date was October 5th. NOw...If they take the baby early...will that affect its weight at all?
I guess I'm a little nervous as I'm not too sure what to expect.
Ultrasounds would have picked up if there was something wrong with the little one .,...right?Thank you for your help in advance.

I had a schedualed c/s and I had my baby at 28 weeks and she weighed 7lbs 8oz. I had an u/s 1 week before just to make sure all was ready. She was fine and so was I. The c/s went fine and it was not as big a deal as I thought it would be.

You'll be over 38 weeks, so everything should be fine. My 2nd baby was taken 10 days before her due date and weighed 8 lbs. 3 oz. and my 3rd was taken 3 days before and weighed 10 lbs. 6 oz. Both very healthy.

As far as what to expect- I'll just give you a short overview of my 2nd baby's birth (because my first wasn't a scheduled C and I had to be put under general anesthesia for the 3rd). Anyway, I went in and was taken to a room to be monitored. That's where I undressed and put on the hospital gown. The nurse came in and took (confirmed) my medical history. Then I was shaved and an IV was put in my hand. Then the anesthesiologist came and and told me what would happen with the spinal. My doctor came in to meet with me and to see how I was doing, as well. After they left I was monitored until they were ready to take me to surgery. I was wheeled to the OR. I sat up on the operating table and had to bend forward and curve my back into as much of a "C" shape as I could while getting the spinal. For me, it wasn't bad- just a pinch. Then they helped me turn and lay down because my legs got almost immediately warm and numb. Then, they put me on oxygen. They ran something over the incision area to be sure it is numb (with one of my babies it felt like a brush, with another it felt like cold metal). Then my doctor started the c-section. I felt weird tugging and pulling- but no pain. Finally she was out. My daughter had fluid in her lungs so she was taken over to the warming bed to be worked on and I only saw her for a minute before she was taken to NICU, but with my son, they cleaned him up, gave him an APGAR score and then let dh bring him over for me to see him while they st_tched me up. (I'll tell about my son now, because the time after his birth is more of what to expect after the delivery than my daughter). Then, I went to recovery and ds and dh went to the nursery so ds could have his sugars checked. After recovery I was taken to my room. He was brought in about 7 hours later (he was born overnight- they brought him in in the morning). With each baby it varied as far as how long until baby was brought to me- it depended on my level of recovery, plus all of my babies had low blood sugar, so they had to be observed longer- so that varies from hospital to hospital, as well as individual circ_mstance to individual circ_mstance. Hope that helps a little...

Thank you...so...did you hear your babies cry after they took them out?
Where do they shave you?

They shave the bikini line (where the top of a bikini band would be). As far as my babies cries- my first (son) came out screaming! My daughter didn't cry at first because of the fluid in her lungs, but she gave a weak little cry after they suctioned her. By the 2nd day in NICU she was a screamer- LOL. And, my third (son) was crying when he was born, but I was asleep under general anesthesia, so I missed it- my doc told me about it later!

Since you have a planned c-section, just get a bikini wax. It will save you having to be shaved and having little stubble grow into your fresh incision... ouchie wah wah! My 2nd c-section was planned, but unfortunately my water broke the week before my scheduled date. I was calling from the hospital to cancel my bikini wax! LOL.
