Does The Longer You Wait Between Sections

Just wondering.. does the longer you wait between sections decrease your chances of uterine rupture, and placenta accrete? I wasn't sure if the longer wait made the scar a lot stronger? . Obviously if you were only 6 months postpartum but what about the difference between say 2 or 3 years? It has been 3 years since m y 3rd sectrion and we are leaning towards a fourth. Thank you

Just wondering if anyone has heard of this? Thanks

Yes it does make things safer but that doesnt mean something will happen if you cant wait. I was told my by doctor that I was a great candidate for vbac because it had been so long (7 years) since my last c-section. However because of insurance I still have to have a c-section.

Tjane, is there another way? U shouldn't have unneccesary surgery because of your insurance. Your insurance isn't a major reason to have surgery, your life should be. Good luck

Tjane, how can your insurance dictate how you deliver your baby? I've never heard of that and I'm pretty sure surgery is more expensive. Are you sure about that? Did you check with the insurance company yourself or did the doctor tell you that? That doesn't make any sense. If you doctor told you that, do yourself a favor and call your insurance company and check the information.

Well its not that my insurance has said that I cant, what it is.. is that they only hospitals my insurance contracts with, their policy is no vbac. I dont know it this was one of the reasons they are contracted with them or not but it is. I called almost evey ob covered on my insurance and some of them even say they would like to be able to do vbacs (their office personel advised me) but the hospitals available to deliver at do not allow.... I even changed doctors because I called an office and they told me they allow VBACs and when I got there they said they do not because of my hospitals. I am okay with it because she is a much better doctor than the last but I cant find one and I am in a big city too!!! Jacksonville Florida.....

And believe it or not, I got a copy of my exact maternity benefits from the doctor where they had called and I have great insurance!!! I have paid 1 co pay of $20 and that covers every visit and and the entire delivery. I dont have to pay for an epidural, if I were having a boy the circ_mcision would be covered. It basically costs me $20 in medical to have a baby plus prenatal pill copays.... Also I dont even know if its the money because on the paper it says my insurance only pays like $85 more for a c-section and that is the allwance and I have no coinsurance so it only costs them $85 more... I dont know....

and one more thing, if you check the c-section forum you will see that this is very common for alot of us....

wow, I live in Canada and we have country wide insurance. It is the same for rich or poor. When we are sick we go to the dr's and thats that. Here we can have a vbac or section. My kids see a pediatrician and I see a high risk preg dr and its still covered all the same. Dentists are not covered and plastic surgery etc. But orthopedics, cardio, cancer, etc are all covered, we just go to tyhe dr as simple as that.

It depends on the state of your scar on prevoius section (should be in your notes) as to risks etc. Am pregnant with 4th, will mean 4yrs between sections. Docs seem to think the risk is no greater than 3rd section but if in doubt will deliver at 38 rather than 39 weeks to reduce strain on scar. My midwife says after 4 yrs, uterus should be healed, just not as stretchy, so I am prematurely worried that I may have a big babe! Good luck, be gentle on yourself and ask your doctor.

Hey Lovemy3: Where do you live? I live in SK. Don't you love Canada? I worked at a dr office and just an uncomplicated vag. delivery the dr. gets about $350 and we dont pay any of that. YEH!!!! Have you asked your dr if its a good idea to have a vbac after 3 cs? If you can and want to I think after 3 years it should be better than 1 year for sure. Good Luck

I just found out I am pregnant and my daughter is only 8 months. I think I just cancelled my chances of a VBAC... I can let you know what the doctor has to say about scar healing when I see him next week.... but 2 years is probably better than 8 months!
