I had a c-section with my first child and have to have another one with my second one (problems with shape of uterus). I was wondering in which week you had your c-sections. I can get a lot of help from family that will be available if I have the baby in week 38/39, but don't know if that would be too early. What do you think?

It use to be that c-sections were done as early as 2 weeks before the due date (if they were scheduled c-sections) but many doctors are moving away from that and scheduling them closer to the baby's due date to reduce any complications that the lungs may not be fully developed. My dd was breech so a c-section was scheduled, she came early on her own at week 37 but origionally it was scheduled only 3 days before her due date. Talk to your doctor and ask him/her how close to the due date they normally schedule a c-section.

My doc schedules her repeat c-sections at 39 weeks. I read an article just last week that says the baby's chances of having complications decrease dramatically after 39 weeks. Krissy is right about the lung development. It's one thing if you go into labor on your own before 39 weeks (usually labor is triggered by a hormone released that says baby's done cooking). I currently am teetering with doing a c-section at 38 weeks, but my doc says that if I do that, she wants an amnio done first to check the lungs.

I was due on Dec 4 and had a c-section on Nov 28, almost one week early...and everything turned out great!

I was due on November 14th> my doc started cervix meds on the 14th, on the 15th he gave pitosin and broke my water, well he flipped and went breach when water was broke I guess. I am glad I waited till due date cause I was HUGE but he was only 6.11lbs. I tried for him to induce weeks before. He is a happy healthy baby but never know what could have happened. Funny thing is boyfriend told people for months that he would be born on the 15th (thats the date he thought I was due LOL). Well guess he was right.
