My name is lisa and this is my first post. So please bear with me. First, I would like to say that this web site has been the biggest source of encouragement and hope for me. Thanks to all who responded to the question about "how many c-sections can a women have?" I am 42 years old and I have 7 wonderful children. Ages range from 23 years-14months. Due to a failed placenta, I had my first c-section with my fourth child. Since then I've had 3 more c's (approx 2-3 years apart: totaling 4). My last c-section my doctor said there was a lot of scar tissue and because of this she suggested/recommended that I don't have anymore. She didn't say anything about my uterus being thinned, just the scar tissue made it more difficult for her and this other doctor she had assist her. She said she removed some scar tissue and narrowly missed my bladder. But, I healed quickly and had no issue with either c-section (up in 1-2 weeks). I may seem off. But I really really have a strong desire to have another. I've prayed as well as fasted and the desire has not left me. My husband is also concerned, but supportive. I told her I want to try again, and asked her to be my doctor. She said she would have to think about, because she didn't want to put me or her at risk.
So should I go to another doctor and get a second opinion? I read some post that said scar tissue shouldn't or wouln't be issue with all doctors. That the main concern was thinning. Please help

i think i responded to your other post..i was told not to have anymore after my 2nd due to scar tissue..however, i am pg with #4 and will be having my 4th section..my doctor told me he is more concerned about the shape my uterus is in and not scar tissue..he said scar tissue raises your risk of bowel/bladder damage and possible hysterectomy but it dosent pose a huge threat like death due to scar tissue not being very vascular and not having its own blood supply you dont bleed out too much..and it just takes longer each section to get through it...i am with you..i am thinking of getting my tubes tied after this one b/c i am scared of the risk..but i would also like to have as many as the lord wills...

Hi Lisa, I was curious that with 7 children and 42 years old, do you and your husband still feel your family isn't complete. You mentioned the "desire" hasn't left you, "desire" for...? I hope you don't mind me asking.

Hmmm, I was thinking the same question too. I would understand your desire to have one more may be strong had you only had 2, maybe 3 kids, but 7 already...? What is this desire you are talking about...?

Hi there and hugs!! I can relate. I am going to be 40 in may and have 4 kids all via c-section. I already go to a highrisk dr. at a huge urban hospital in a fetal medicine clinc for past history of preeclampsia. My last section took almost 3 hours digging through all the adhesions and took 2 high risk OB's and 2 regular OB's. I did have my tubes tied during that c-section as they urged me to be done. The biggest risk they explained to me was placenta accreta. If the placenta grows through the scars which is does and can if it attaches on a scar, it grows into organs and that is a problem. In the ward where I stayed some women had bladders the size of chestnuts because parts were removed because of the placenta growing through them. So with that half of me thought, so far that has\n't happened, but the other half thought Thank God and count your blessings and move on. God protected me and my babies. I had always prayed before each Dr. appointment and before conceiving each child and always had a pre-pregnancy consult with this Dr. to get the green light to move ahead. With much prayer each pre-preg appt went well and i was told to move ahead. But my dr. this time strongly urged me to call it a day. I understand the desire, but at the same time you have to think of the others in your family. I would pray about it a lot and you will find peace in the right decision. I would however, see a high risk dr. and use that as a tool to keep the best possible care for yourself. xo
