Pain Under Scar

I had an emergency c-section in August; I had thought everything was healed up fine...this last week, I started to increase my abdominal activity - just a few flutter kicks and a couple of crunches - I also had more bending than usual, doing laundry and dishes. Now, my scar burns/stings, and it feels bruised underneath the skin...when I touch the spots where it feels bruised, I can feel hard little lumps...is it possible that my c-section created hernias? I have a doctor's appt next week for something unrelated - should I ask the doctor about these pains, or is this something normal that will go away?

it sounds normal to me jamie..those lumps sound like scar tissue. it all sounds normal to me. the burning and stinging still happens to me 2 yrs post c so i think it is just part of it you can mention it to your doc but i think it all sounds normal...good luck

Jaime, since you're thin, you'd probably be able to see a hernia as a bulge under your skin. It would also flatten back out when you lay on your back. I thought I had a hernia after my first c-section. I'm big enough that it would be hard to see if I had a bulge along the incision line (especially back then, I got up to 325 while I was depressed). It was a nearly constant burning pain, and when I stood up it felt like something slipping inside of me. I didn't see a doctor for it...I figured a doctor would tell me to lose weight, so I went on a diet on my own. When I got pregnant again and went to the doctor, he couldn't feel a hernia. He said it could be a weakness in the connective tissue. I was so convinced it was a hernia that I didn't want to have a vbac...when I had my second c-section, there was no hernia, they had a patch ready in case there was one. I've been doing crunches since 6 weeks postpartum this time, it hasn't flattened my stomach any, but it hasn't hurt my scar. I've been taking garlic and vitamin c daily since my c-section, and I think it's helped with healing.
