Repeat Better Than And Emergency For Recovery

I am scheduled to have my c section on march 14. It will be my second, and I am starting to get a knot in my stomach every time I think about it. With my first, I had a hard recovery, but I labored for many hours (drug free) and pushed for 3 hours before they took her. Anyone have a repeat that was better than an emergency?

My repeat was about a thousand times better than my emergency. Even with a spinal headache! It was like night and day. I went in, they gave a spinal with a narcotic, I got to hear everything going on and was really aware of things (unlike my hectic emergency where I felt way too much and was delirious). Then I saw my baby, watched him with the pediatrician, and after they put me back together I got to see and nurse him immediately. None of these things happened with my first and I was so nervous but it was really so much better. I had almost no pain (except a headache) and was up and about after the first day. The rest of my hospital stay felt like a vacation! Try not to worry, I am sure you will find it much easier this time.

I had a terrible 1st birth experience. 2 days in labor then an emergency c-section. Due to the nature of our pregnancy this time we had a scheduled c-section. It was amazing. I was not exhausted from 2 days of labor - and like olivia - I felt like I had a birth experience. I saw him when he came out - kissed him and was nursing him within the hour. I even walked into the operating room and had a laugh with the staff as they got me all ready. I too was SO NERVOUS but Oh My Gosh - so much better doing it this way...I was 3 nights in the hospital. With our first - due to the long labor - I got a uterus infection and was in for 14 days...blech. Honestly - if I had another I would do it this way again...my tubes are now tied so that won't happen. Bring an i-pod with your fave music, get some nice 'grandma undies' for post delivery, bring some yummy soaps/shampoos to the hospital....you can really plan....I dunno - for me - the scheduled section was a really positive experience!
