mine was caused by neglect i was not but on the drip sooner so i was in labour for 15 hours pushed for 2 then had to have c section as the baby was distressed and had turned on to his side. i feel i was cheated i was then put to sleep as i could feel them cutting and i did not c my son for 1 hour as he had breathing problems. julia if you feel you r gettin noway when in labour make sure u ask if u are recieving the right care 4 your stage of labour as a first time mum i thought everything was fine until the room was full of doctors and one in pacticular who was very nice to me said to the midwife why have i been left so long without the drip. i believe if i had had that earlier maybe i would have had normal birth and would not have a saggy tum.

I was being induced at 38 weeks due to gestational diabetes. With the induction I never progressed past 1 cm and 20% effacement. Plus, my baby girl never descended into the pelvis properly so I had to have the c-section. I was really worried about the surgery because I had never been in the hospital before, much less had a surgery so I was freaked, but everything went well. I had my daughter on 2/7 and two weeks later I have recovered very well. The recovery overall has not been a bad experience. If I had to do it again, I would, no problem.

With I had to have an emergency c/s with my first because of Failure to dialate past 3 cm. I had goten a epidural. The epidural was to strong and I ended up having my whole body numb. They had to give me a shot to reverse the epidural so when they decided on an emergency c/s they had to put me to sleep. I had just turned 20 and was in perfect health. You never know if you will end up needing a c/s so I always tell everyone just be prepared. That way if they do decide to give you a c/s you will be more prepared then I was.

I planned to try a completely natural birth, with the option of changing my mind and requesting an epidural. My daughter had other plans for me. She had been breach until just before 35 weeks when she finally turned head down. At 35 weeks, I was already 100% effaced and she was at Zero station head down. At 36 weeks, the same and I was 1 cm dilated. At 37 weeks and 1 day, my water broke. We got to the hospital about an hour later and I was at 2 cm. I dilated from a 2 to a 10 in 30 minutes (completely drug free), apparently quite amazing in general and especially with a 1st baby ( thank goodness we got to the hospital in time, we didn't realize we should have been rushing- we thought we had hours). Until I found out the reason things were so intense was that I had already hit a 10, I started asking for the epidural, but I changed my mind when I heard I was at a 10 and at the pushing phase and said I wanted to finish drug free. Unfortunately, when they checked and I was a 10 that was also when they discovered that my little girl had somehow flipped around and was breach again- extremely rare. I know she had been in the same place the day before, so they think she might have actually flipped during labor, again extremely rare, but it can happen. Because of her position, I had to have an emergency C-section. They even had to give me breathine to try to slow the contractions to give them time to get me to the OR and get things ready, because she was trying to come out one way or the other and was in no position where she could- they think that probably made my pain more intense than a normal labor would have been. 1 1/2 hours after getting to the hospital, my little girl was born. Not the way I planned it, but the C-section wasn't nearly as bad as I had imagined it. I was terrified about having a C-section beforehand, but didn't have time and was hurting too bad to care or worry about it when it was happening. Nothing about the C-section even compared to the intensity of the speedy dilation with a baby in the wrong position pushing on body parts where she was never meant to push. I had complete pain relief the minute they gave me the spinal right before the C-section. That was a week ago, and my recovery has not been too bad. I feel a little better every day. All in all, after talking to my friends who have had v____al deliveries, I'm not sure my recovery is any worse than theirs was- my pain is just in a different area. There is something to be said about having your private parts completely intact and not having searing pain everytime you pee. At least my whole labor experience took less than 3 hours.

I was four days overdue and after an ultrasound the baby was guessed at 9lbs. 15oz. and my doctor didn't think that I would be able to deliver her v____ally. I had the c-section the next day and my daughter weighed 10lbs. 5.8oz.

Wow, thanks Ladies! I really enjoy reading about the good outcomes. I feel badly for you ladies who do not feel that you needed one. Dr. appt. today, baby is exactly average size so far. Blessings to you all.

In my case I have been diagnosed with an incompetent cervix. I went into labor at 25 weeks, my son was born at 25.1 weeks via vertical emergency cesarean. He pa__sed a month later. In the future I will have a cerclage placed at 14 weeks and will always have a cesarean. But in all fairness my cesarean experience although scary wasn't bad. The recovery is quite painful but not at all unbearable as long as you take your pain meds on time. A csection was not what I wanted but the situation dictated it. I wish you a very uneventful pregnancy and a v____al delivery but if a section is needed, then you will be just fine. -L

I was 5 centimeters dialated and been in labor for 15 hours with painful back labor when the doctor checked me and found the baby was b___t first. I was so nervous I was trying not to cry but the section went really well and I was walking the next day.

Hello everyone. Well, I just had my baby boy 3 days ago, Thursday the 9th of March. At 27 weeks he is very premature and on all kinds of machines but he is hanging in there. At his birth he weighed 2 pounds 8 ounces and is 16.5 inches long. I did not have to worry about a c-section after all, my back hurt all day Thursday and then I felt a stabbing pain in my crotch and as soon as that happened my water broke. By the time my husband and the paramedics arrived his little head was starting to crown! The paramedics delivered him en route to the hospital and luckily had done this before with a very premature baby. The lead medic had prepared items specifically for super-preemies and had the tiniest bag-valve mask set-up I have ever seen. I am okay, and needless to say while devastatingly early and very critical, the birth itself was relatively painless. I will keep you all updated as time goes on. The NICU shall be our home for the next few months (hopefully!) and I will check in when I can. Oh, my baby boy's name is Micah Evan currently 2 pounds 2 ounces and putting up a good fight!

Oh, Julia, my thoughts are with you and CONGRATS on your precious, teeny baby! How is he doing today? With this little ones that is a pertinant question for they are squirrly little buggars! Is he on C-PAP? God Bless you all, and every second he fights is a point in his favor. I love his name too! What can I say about your birth experience? WOW comes to mind. Did your medics get a STORK emblem for their rig? They do here when they deliver a baby! Best wishes for you and peanut.

Baby update~Micah had a crash and burn yesterday, and required some major intervention. He is stable now, but his body temp is low so he is sunbathing under more heat lamps and a space-age looking blanket. When they turn off the lights and take his eye shields off he is starting to look at me like he knows me!!! His scan of his intestines was looking good and he poops and pees like a big baby. They said his temp is what caused his arrest. He has a routine CT of his head tomorrow. He gained a gram and a half, no weight loss, also a good sign. They weighed him before he peed, so who knows???? But I think they weigh his diaper too. I am physically well, I can't even tell I just gave birth (I am so glad I didn't have a c-section to deal with on top of all this!) Best wishes to those of you who haven't had your babies yet.

My first was caused by Preeclampsia and the fact I wasn't progressing and baby went into fetal distress. I did labour for 20 hours though. #2 was because preeclampsia returned and they wanted to deliver asap due to past history. #3 was because I had 2 previous and was fine with having a c-section and did not wish tro attempt VBAC. I also had gest diabetes with my third. I didn't find my sections bad at all and birth was still a wonderful experience for my family. Good luck.
