Where Is Your C Section Scar

My scar is below the top of my pubic hair, easily hidden by a bikini. I get the idea that it is different for some (from what I've read on other posts). Where is yours?

Mine's the same as you guys. I also have a SIL who has a vertical and it upsets her a little because she says it looks like b___t cheeks LOL- but she is actually thankful for it in a way- she was planning to deliver w/ the midwife (at the midwife's house) like she had with her other 4, but the midwife said she felt the baby on one side and a big lump on the other and sent her to the hospital- it turned out she had uterine AND Ovarian cancer. They did an immediate c-section and hysterectomy. I'm happy to say my niece is turning 10 next month and my SIL will be there for her b-day... as she's been cancer free for 7 years now!

tTha'ts good news, sahmof3! My c-section scar is even with my hip bones above my pubic hair. The reason is I am very small in the hips and since I have a juvenile pelvis my inlet (top part) was too small for the baby's head to even get down. When they did the c-section they had to actually extend the scar over my hip bones a bit because they need at least a 4-inch opening and I didn't have the 4 inches side-to-side. When I wear a bikini or low-rise pants I have to constantly check to see that others can't see my scar. Weird, huh?

Actually, Perl, most scars start out bigger, at least 5 inches across and they shrink over time. Mine is still 5 inches and goes over each hip bone just a bit. 4 inches is the MINIMUM they need (like small Dr.s hands, small baby) but many are larger. I have heard the ridiculous statements that some women say their scar is only 2 inches wide, that is just plain mathematically impossible. But, some are larger and some appear smaller, especially the longer out you are from the section.

I would guess mine's about 4-5", but now faded to light white, so it's not too noticeable. I had my widest cut with my smallest baby- LOL- because she was about to be pulled out (she was head down, face up) and she looked up, took a breath and turned breech and had to be pulled out by her feet VERY quickly... it shocked my doc- she'd never encountered that before... but at least she had the presence of mind to cut wider and get Leah out fast. She spent 3 days in NICU being suctioned and monitored, but is now a happy, healthy almost 3 y.o. Perl, I'm not sure about all reasons why someone would have to have a vertical cut, but a life-threatening emergency is one- a vertical cut is much longer, so there's more room for the doctor to get the baby out quickly. A bikini cut is actually a tight squeeze for the doctor to get a baby out of.
