Well I am not sure if I will have to have one yet...I will find out in 2-3 weeks, but in case if I do...How bad is the pressure? I know they don't put you out and that kinda freaks me out. I don't want to be awake while they cut my baby out of me. Can you opt to be put out? I know they only do that in emergencies, but I honestly think I would pass out knowing I was aware. How bad does it hurt afterwards? I know recovery time is extended and all, but I mean on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the worst) how bad is the whole experience?

Don't worry yourself! You will have time to prepare emotionally once you find out and also time to ask the doctor tons of questions. I had an emergency c after laboring as well, and they were both pretty equal as far as an experience. I think you will regret if you are put out, and it is more risk to the baby. They put me out once they started putting me back together and I got to see her for minute before her dad took her. You will feel pulling and pressure but you won't see anything. Good luck and don't worry -- either way is scary and being able to know ahead might make a difference. Try to relax and take care of yourself for now.

I went through horrible labor and two hours of pushing then I had a c/s because baby wasn't budging. By that time I was so relieved that labor would soon be over, nothing mattered. The c/s happens so fast that it's over before you know it and they're showing you that beautiful baby. I'll be having another one in June and I am not nervous at all. The recovery is the hardest part.

They don't put you to sleep for the surgery because that greatly increases the danger for you and the baby. The tugging/pressure you feel isn't bad at all. You feel stuff but it doesn't hurt at all. There's a curtain hung between your head and your belly, so you don't see what they're doing either. The nice thing about being awake is getting to hear your baby's first cry, and see the baby as soon as he or she is born. The recovery is a little painful, but then again some people have a painful recovery from a v____al birth too...I couldn't really rate the experience on a scale of 1-10...If the c-section is really necessary for you, that means it is a life-saving procedure for you and the baby...think of it that way and you'll realize it's a good thing.
