Amnio Vs Ultrasound In Determing Fetal Age

This is my situation (there are a lot of numbers to keep track of, so brace yourself). I began recieving prenatal care late in my pregnancy. My LMP was 10-01-04, but was light and short. I am to have a c-sec performed. I had an U/S on 01-25-05 that said I was 23w 2d. Another on 02-25-05 that indicated I was 26w 6d. Then a third U/S on 04-13-05 that said I was 35w 3d. With this third U/S we also found that I had excess amniotic fluids (but no ges. diabetes). All of the U/S were pretty consistant in reguards to the age of my baby, and my doctor was confident in using the EDD of 05-28-05 that the U/S's provided. On 05-19-05 I had an amniocentesis performed (4 days prior to my scheduled c-sec) and the results came back stating that I was 32 weeks!!! I should be 39w! Who messed up here? The three consistent U/S's, or the amnio? What is the error rate on the Amnio? Does the fact that I have excess fluids effect the outcome of the amnio? Should my doctor be showing more concern in the huge difference in dates, because I am very concerned. Please help me to understand the possibilities of what is going on.
