I just had a second c/s 3 weeks ago and I also got my tubes tied. I still have heavy bleeding and I passed a clot the size of a golf ball. I passed one the first week the size of my fist but was told by a nurse that it was O.K. My last c/s I only bled 3 weeks and it wasn't heavy like this. Did anyone here ever have the same thing? I'm going to my doc next week so I'll ask then but would really like to hear from someone who can relate. I also have low hemogloben as I lost blood during the surgery..

Exactly 2 weeks after my horrible c-section experience I ended up in the ER. I was hemmoridging. I lost so much blood I needed a blood transfusion. When I started bleeding it came on suddenly and didn't stop. I had clots the size of my fist and larger and when I sat on the toilet it was as if I was peeing but it was just blood and clots pooring out of me. I had to put a towel between my legs to make it to the hospital. They finally got the bleeding to slow down with IV drugs and sent me home the next day on them. My Dr. said he thinks part of the placenta was left behind which can sometimes happen with c-sections because they have to cut through it. The same thing happened with my sister-n-law but she needed 3 blood transfusions because she woke up laying in blood. I was already awake so I caught it early. I am not sure about your situation, I would just watch to make sure it doesn't get heavier suddenly and the clots arn't one after another. A nurse had told me that they sometimes have women come in that are still bleeding at 6 weeks pp from v____al and c-section births, so I think as long as it continues to get lighter it should be fine. Just speak with your Dr. about it. Hope everythings ok!

I too had a c-section 3 weeks ago and just started to have lighter bleeding. I had to go into the hospital when I hemmorhaged as well. They gave me meds to make my uterus contract. I still pa__sed a huge clot a couple days ago after it was starting to get lighter. It will sometimes be red again when I use the restroom. I sure will be glad when this is over. Glad to know others on in the same boat. Hope you all heal real soon!

Hi, I had a secondary post-partum hemmorhage a week after having my c-section 4 weeks ago. It was a horrid and scary experience and I had No Idea anything like that could happen - I never saw anything about it in the pregnancy books etc! I lost over 2 litres of blood, needed to have surgery and had 3 blood transfusions! I was told I was lucky I was feeding my daughter at the time when I felt a clot pa__s (same as smjj, the size of my fist!) because if I wasn't awake feeding her I could have kept bleeding in my sleep and had a seizure and died...!! If I was you kcll I wouldn't wait until my appointment with the doc, I would ring up asap and mention it! It may possibly be nothing, but it could also be something very serious! I'm sorry, I don't mean to scare you, but had I known how serious things could be relating to childbirth complications I wouldn't have been so blaise about getting on with things when I got home from hospital and would have taken it easier..! Please at least call your doc and mention your problem if your still bleeding or at all concerned still...! I hope everything goes well for you!

Kcll~ This is one of the things many of us have been TRYING to warn those other ladies about who insist that c-sections are safe and easy, etc. We get jumped on continuously and called scare-mongers. I had hemorrhages as well and blood transfusions, but I had them during and after the surgery and thankfully (?) while still in the hospital. I had my tubes tied too after my c-section and now every month I have heavy periods with huge clots and horrible cramps. Make sure you call your doctor now, and watch your periods thereafter. With uterine surgery you may get a condition called adenomyosis, your doc can explain exactly what this is. Ahh, c-sections, so much FUN. Best wishes for some healing soon and congrats on your new baby.

Apparently it was my period. I stopped bleeding compleely after two weeks. When you have tubal ligation your period is known to be heavier and after a c/s. Thanks for the info and I hope we help someone in the same situation. I know it can be scary. I love that we have a place to hear others experiences. It has helped me alot.
