Hello to everyone, karen especially you don't worry.. I had posted my first post on here may 7th about my last c section, it was not a good experience, I had a c section july 1st with my second child..All was fabulous, my doctors were extroadinary a blessing, you can even tell that they cut me, my hair grows over my incesion. My baby is 6 weeks old I am doing wonderful and healed great this time but doctors took all precautions. I am great ful they sewed all my muscles back together this time, they said most women dont get their stomaches back because docs dont take the time to sew the muscles but they did, i had a bladder flab that was loose from first pregnancy they fixed that and i had a tubal ligation, and you still can't see my scar.

Oh, I do hope they shave me and it is below the hair line and not above it! How come they didn't even shave you? Was it an emergency c-section? Seems that the elective c-sections are better as they have time beforehand. If it's a 6 inch incision, does it shrink in length?

Karen, To answer your questions, yes it is below the hair line. The hair does grow back. They have to shave you to see a clear way to cut (a straight line) and plus its harder to deal with all the hair in the way anyways. Yes scars do shrink mine was 6 inches long on June 21 when they did my emergency c section and now it measures about 4 1/2 inches long. No one is going to be able to see it unless they go searching for it. Except for your significant other and im sure he wont mind. It is procedure that they shave you anyways, its done in all surgerys.Mine was emergency and I wouldnt change a thing, I felt no pain during it Totally numb, and after wards they kept giving me the perkaset before it wore off so that i didnt feel the pain, so by the time i went home i only took 3 out of the 60 my prescription was filled for. Dont worry, its one of the best days of your life.

Thank you so much Jamie! I fell 100% better. You're a star - straight to the point. I'm sure they will explain the procedure to me beforehand. Just a fear of the unknown really.

jamie - August 16

Karen, No problem, they definetly will explain everything to you. Enjoy your experience best wishes.

Karen dont worry, like everyone is telling you enjoy it . Its the most wounderful time of your life. Im not sure why they didnt shave me and mine is above my hairline. I did have my tubes tied to and had scar tissue from a operation 20 years ago. but dear dont worry, honestly . let us know once you had the baby good luck

Ah right, that may explain it! I'm only 32 weeks atm. Still feel it's a long way off, but feel like I have been pregnant for ages! Weird. I still don't look overly pregnant to be honest. Kinda like I've had a big meal and playing the "push the belly out" game. Just it doesn't go back afterwards.... :) I actually thought I would have this big belly out in front, but I haven't. Not even round. Perhaps that's because I have a long torso though. Plenty of room for the belly to grow downwards and not all out in front. Feel happier about this c-section/scar now though. I have asked around but not that many people I know have had sections. Good sign maybe, but I guess i'm having one because the doctors/midwives know best.

Karen, you dont know why your having a c-section or you elected to have one? i was scheduled to have a c-section and my water still broke before that date. My placenta was covering so i couldnt have a natural one. So make sure you know why your having one and if there are any signs to look for. I would gladly go through the c-section all over again. it was truly remarkable. I even got a picture when he came out and was still connected by the cord.

Karen, you didnt ask why they are having you have a c section? have you had any problems? I had an emergency section at 29 weeks and she came out perfect........I had PIH and gained 18 pounds in 2 weeks (water weight). Im More so happy having had the section, and will opt so next time around.I like you didnt show that much either, I looked as if I was trying to lose the weight after wards. I am not worried about the scar, because I know next time I go through it they cut through the same scar. Just remember to take your first couple days in the hospital slow and try to get up as much as possible and try to sit up on your own. The quicker you learn to do it yourself with as little pain as possible the better you'll be. They will tell you to hold a pillow over your stomach when you laugh or cough or sneeze, trust them or it will hurt. Of course lay on your left side like they suggest also because it relieves a lot of the tension and pain after wards. Dont be afraid to hara__s the staff for medicine if you need it because you dont want it to wear off and then take for ever to kick back in. Trust in your care givers, and let them do for you for a change, I was relieved to know that I would have a few days to recoupe and let your significant other take care of both of you.

I had disolving st_tches inside and staples outside. My recovery was very easy. I was wlaking the day after I delivered and got the staples out before leaving the hospital (they put strips on that fall off on their own). I also am plus sized, but just kept it dry...my doc told me to put a kotex pad over it inside my panties until it was fully healed. I had no problems at all.

Jodie - August 21

That just goes to show you every doctor is different. because I asked my doctor if i should keep it covered and she told me No . To let the air get to it. Also she never told me any special directions as to keep it dry. but i got to admit im alot better than most of these people with the opening. I do have one question though . Is the opening on the outside or the inside?

I had a c-section almost 7 weeks ago and I'm still not completely healed, which is a pain in the.... I was sewed in the inside but nothing on the out, just bandaged. After a week I got those taken off because I had an infection. After another 2 weeks I knew it just wasnt right so I went back in and they took a culture, I had a bacterial infection in it so I had to be put on antibioctics for 2 weeks. Now the intection is gone buts its still open in spots. And Carly, I had the same numbness too and I asked my Dr. about it and she said that it is normal because all the nerves were cut too and eventually the sensation will come back. Hopefully.

Well tomorrow is the day, my baby is 7 weeks old now and going back to work, I had a tubal ligation with my c section, and Friday had extremly heavy bleeding so i didn't go in today like i was going to, I bled really bad all weekend and hmg were low today when i had lab work, The doctor suggested that i have a endometrial ablation done it would stop my periods all together has anyone had this, because having a period with a pad an hour is not exciting. Birth control pills have slowed it down today, but lordy now i know what a HEAVY period is..I am going to miss my baby tomorrow , thank goodness for grandma though puts me more at ease..

Michele - August 23

hi i had a c-section almost 5 weeks ago , i had staples its my last baby # 5 and my first and only c-section . It hurt like hell but was well worth it . I too had troubles with leakage thru 2 small holes so i just took hot showers and let the water run on it and then dryed it by patting with a towel , then i put high cut waist underwear on and put a b___st pad inside my panties where the leakage was coming from after about a week it started too heal . Its almost all healed now thank god . Good luck to all and by the way it hurt so bad when they took out the staples that i cryed . Michele

Tamika - August 23

Charity I had a C-Section 3 months ago and I just healed from my incision about 2 weeks ago, which was a long time but I got my 1st period since I gave birth and I had a tubal also. I only bled hard the first day and then it was moderate and then went away in 4 days. But I wasn't in any pain I felt like wow its here. The only thing I do know is that a week before my period came my b___st were tender and I had some cramps but the worst part was my b___st it hurt like mad and I am b___stfeeding I ws like what in the world it felt like she was brand new on them again, I did take some meds for that but when my period came I did not even notice it until I went to the bathroom.

Tamika/ my doctor warned me that 1/3 of women return to normal after a tubal ligation, 1/3 stop periods,1/3 have heavy heavy periods..Well i guess i was the 1/3 with heavy, and boy do i mean heavy, i told him i can't do this again next month , He said well i suppose you will come see me to do the ablation then..I was just wondering if anyone has heard, or had it done? They insert hot saline in the uterus to burn the lining which normally stops period all together, they do it on an outpatient procedure, the pain is major cramping so they normally put you under or give you something to make you sleepy before doing it...Well good luck to everyone take care I am leaving to go back to work for first time after maternity leave wish me luck, i will miss my baby
