Csection Is Not A 4 Letter Word

I had an elective c-section when the docs told me he would be a big baby (my first daughter was 5lbs and tore me up) My section was a dream. Unfortunatly I DID go into labor 6 hours before my sectionand was i labor for 5 hours (terrible labor by the way) until everything was ready for my section. It was wonderful. I was out of bed within 12 hours, in the shower within 24 and home within 48. My doctor was AMAZED at how well i was doing. SHe almost had a stroke when she read my chart and saw that i hadnt had anything at all for pain, I didnt feel that i needed it. I went home 2 days early (my doc usually requires 4 days in hosp) and i never had any problems at all with anything. I am looking forward to my next section. I would take that over my v____al delivery anytime

Hannahbaby nice job with getting off pain meds, i took the lowest form which shocked my doc as well and stop alltogether about 4 days later. I got off the morphine drip early and went to vicoden. Keep em' coming ladies

Okay I agree that anyone should totally share their positive story, but maybe the reason you're getting some of the negative feedback was the way you phrased your post. For some of us there was no "lighter side" to our C-sections, and the way you phrased your post almost made it seem like C-sections were a walk in the park and that the people posting negative stories had no right to do so. That's how it came off and it was a little bit offensive to me. Not trying to bash or be rude, just letting you know.

vjr - December 11

aurorabunny i apperciate the feed back and it wasnt my intention to come across that way. my csection was a walk in the park at my intention was to get my story out there along with other positive stories, i think there is TONS of csection bashing on here and just though a thread without that was an important thing to have i had a hard time finding positive stories while i was PG and just wanted to maybe help a woman that was in my shoes, i don't think that a bad thing or that it should be frowned upon, or ruined by others who don't share the same opinion. as i said there are plenty of threads on here that have labeled csections as awful, unessasary, horrible ect...

Hi vjr. I just had a c-section 10 days ago. This was my second and my 1st delivery was v____al. I ended up with a 4th degree tear because my pelvis wasn't wide enough for my 7lb 9oz baby to pa__s through. That was 16 years ago and it traumatized me so much that I couldn't imagine having another baby... which is one of the reasons why it took me 16 years to decide to do so again! Compared to my v____al birth I cannot tell you how much better my section was. I am only 10 days pp and I feel great. My experience was very positive. I mean I had pain afterwards but it was nothing like my v____al birth. It took 47 st_tches and over 6 months to heal from that experience and now here I am, 10 days later wondering when I can start working out again! Although I do not plan to have anymore children, if I did, I would definitely choose a section again. I am so much more capable of caring for my new son and myself compared to my last experience. I understand how traumatic unplanned/emergency sections can be and I empathize with all of you who have had them and feel traumatized from your experience. However, for a lot of women (like me) a v____al birth is just as traumatizing. I'm just very thankful that out of each experience (even my horrible v____al delivery) I ended up with healthy babies.

I was petrified of thought of a cs but my ds was transverse and a v____al was impossible. I had a horrible time with the epi as they couldn;t find the right spot and poked me over 8 times i nearly pa__sed out from the pain but after that it was really great and i was given some mighty strong painmeds and took the max for 2 weeks and timed it in a way that i would never feel pain lol I was walking within 10 hours and even danced in the bathroom from joy as i couldnt believe i could walk so soon lol the midwives kept telling me to take it easy but darn those meds were good!! I didn;t go out for 5 weeks and was pampered well by my mother (which is why i think i healed well)...and yes i feel cheated out a natural delivery but a cousin just had a baby v____ally and had lots and lots of st_tched and well instead of her 17 hour labour and stretched out and st_tched v____a i just got away with a lovely lovely neat scar with no labour. There was pain...but for some reason i dont recall its intensity...maybe mother nature's way of making us have more kids LOL

I wish you all well with your csections.. It is a necessary procedure and one that has saved many lives.. but for those of you who want to elect to try and get past the pain of labor... or st_tches.. and elect for a csection instead.. I say read up. Be informed. Not every csection is good.. not every csection is bad.. but when you have a bad one... VJR.. don't put the rest of us down for warning these women of what could happen.. I am grateful that your experiences were soo wonderful... but I would rather know and be aware of the bad things that could happen....

vjr - December 14

pebblesnbambam again I'm not trying to put anyone down or discredit anyone, all i was doing was making a positive thread...really is it that big of a deal for me to post my good experiance the same way others post their bad? Also you mention women choosing elective csections to get past labor or stiches, well that wasn't my reason at all. Anyway i neversaid women shouldn't be informed on all aspects of a csection good and bad i was just trying to add a little sunshine to the topic

pebblesnbambam - December 15

I guess I agree with the previous posts from ladies in the same boat as me.. it was the WAY you posted it.. Have you had a c-section... can you say... "I hear about painful stiches and scars but i would rather have stiches on my lower tummy than between my bottom and v____a" from experience??? Granted I don't know what it is like to rip down there.. and am sure it is painful.. but went through the entire laboring process just to have a csection right before we got to pushing. ""it is major abdominal surgery" and yes it is but unlike having your kidney removed, you are actually giving birth and your happiness will give you an endorphine rush that is nothing like abdominal surgery".. again.. are you speaking from experience... ???? The endorphine rush comes... but it also goes when the pain rushes in. There is a reason a doctor gives a women 8 weeks recovery time vs 6 weeks.. Just be careful what you are saying.. I a__sume you were not trying to offend any of us that had c-sections.... but as you can tell.. you did. I agree.. there are positives out there and let them be heard... but let the others tell their stories for those women who are on the fence about wanting a c-section or not. .

HI ladies. I think the birthing process is a very personal thing and that is why there are so many emotions wrapped up here. I can totally understand the trama of expecting a natural birth and being rushed into surgery. That would be tramatic for anyone and for those of you who had to go through that, my sympathy goes out to you. I personally knew I was going to have a c-section. My son was large and I have a bad back. So I never had any emotions wrapped up in labor and the natural part of delivery. I know my sister in law just had a baby and she thought it was aweful. She tore from end to end and was in pushing hard labor for 4 hours. Since I never went through that I cna't say how that would have effected me, but my c-section was wonderful. I walked into the operating room, laid on the table. And even asked to watch my son being born, so thye lowered the curtian. I am 6 weeks prego again and plan on having anohter c-section. I heard before my first to make sure I walked right away, so I did. I was up the next day walking and my doctor thinks that is a major reason I heeled so fast. Plus I was 20. 11 years later I may not heal as fast, but I am excited about the idea of another c-section. I don't handle pain at all, and have no memory of my c-section hurting all that much. I was taking tylonel after the first two days. As I said before, because the birthing process is so personal it is totally understandable that there are people who are not happy with the choice be it theres or the doctros. But I understand the desire to have a happy blog to talk about c-sections. But sometimes we can't separate the good from the bad. But if you are considering a c-section remember every experience is different. And it is a personal choice, even if you are planning a natural birth a c-section is still a possibility, esp if the baby or mom is in danger so doing your research is a good thing. And the last stat I read was 30% of all births are c-sections. Good luck to all of you.

kaykaysmommy - December 16

hi all so here is my C story......now my son was born 15 years earlier and he was born after 18 hrs of labor at at military hospital no pain meds what so ever and trust me that was not by choice the rules at that hospital......he weighed 9lbs and 2 oz i was cut which wasnt great but the girl in the room with me tore and she was alot worse off then i was i had no problems at all he was delivered at 5 in the evening and i walked to my room at 5:40 i used the wash they gave me to use after each bathroom visit and we had the heat lamps and i used it several times a day and walked alot when it was time to go home the Dr said my st_tches was healed and a few dissolved already he was amazed at how good they looked so i healed great with my son ....the girl in the room with me didnt use the wash stuff cuz she said it smelled funny she didnt use the heat lamp and she said it hurt to walk so she laid in bed and took pain meds all of the time and when i walked out of the hospital with my baby going home she stayed behind because she hadn't healed and was infected!!!!!! so when i got pregnant with my DD i wanted a repeat of that experience and i was so disappointed after 14 hrs of HARD labor of being induced (which is alot worse than going into labor by your self IMO ) i had to have a C because i had only dialated to a 2 and stayed there for 10 of the 14 hrs ..... Dr didn't want me to suffer any longer......My DD was born at 3 in the afternoon and i was up walking at 10 pm that night ......it hurt dont get me wrong but i had watched a friend after her 2 c's and i was scared to death to have one she laid in bed over 24 hrs refused to move because it hurt so bad on morphine drip and not knowing who came to visit or what was happening i said hell no tho that one i knew everything that happened to me and i was holding my baby girl by 4:30 that evening i had to stay in recovery about an hour and then when i got to my room they brought my dinner and as soon as i was done i had my baby girl .....i think the key to a fast recovery is get up and active ASAP i'm not saying doing things you shouldn't but walking and such i walked in 7 hrs and took shower the next am and walked bunches that day and got staples taken out before i went home and went home 1 day early.......my friend had to take staples home with her and go back a week or so later and hospital stay was over a week ...she was amazed at how i recovered and i told her it was all because of her....the only reason she finally did get up was the dr took the cath. out of her and she had to get up to go potty.........i know all are not this great but mine was ok and i will be having another one in june i am 15 weeks along now sorry so long........

BabyGirl15 - December 17

I had a cesarian at 39 weeks, and definitly NOT by choice. My dd had medical complications that she needed to be born by a section. I dont regret having one, because it was the best for my beautiful dd. But i much rather would have given birth to her v____ally. It was just a tramatic time and i was against having a section from day one. I had a bad recovery, in and out of the hospital, ended up with two infections and was in a lot of pain and discomfort. My recovery was 2 months, before i actually felt like myself again and still to this day , 6 months later i still dont feel completly heeled. But i kno, life goes on.

Bonnie - December 18

Labor is labor.....you can have a great c-section or a horrid one, same as for a v____al birth. It's the luck of the draw and you just have no idea what you will get. I can understand the reason VJR started this thread. I had to have a c-section, not by choice, and seeing some of the stories on here had me abosultely petrified with terror. The truth was, I had an amazing experience and if I could relive that moment everyday I would. It was fun, pain free, and I was up and about later that day with very little pain. But of course for some it is a nightmare. No matter what kind of birth you end up with, you just don't know what it will be like until you are there. Everyone is different. The best you can do is hope for the best and not read birth stories, lol.

vjr - December 18

Hey Bonnie thanks for sharing, I to was scared out of my mind and afterward i just really wanted to shed some light on the topic so i thought this was a good palce to start...again keep those positive stories coming, you never know when your story could be the one that puts a mom to be at ease!!
