Ladies--Thanks again for all of your help and support! I don't know what frame of mind I would've been in, had I not talked to you guys (probably not good)! :) I will post and let you know how it all goes when I get home. Mingill--Thanks so much for sharing your story with me! I love hearing them! I finished packing my bags, so I am all ready to go! See you on Infant care!

Oh my gosh...2 more days! My nervousness is starting to be overshadowed by my excitement to meet my little sweetie! :-) I pretty much have everything ready...just a few more things to throw in my bag...I have a major overpacking problem, but it's better to have too much than not enough, right?! Am I going to feel like absolute a__s on Thursday after the surgery? I told people that only close family can visit that day...everyone else needs to wait until Fri or Sat. When do you think they will let me shower? I hate feeling gross! By the way, my dr said I will be closed up with staples and he takes them out on day 4 after surgery. Sounds painful to have real staples...ouch! :-( Sorry for all the questions...I'm trying to pa__s the time, can you tell? Hehe! ~Kim~

Oh I forgot! I had an u/s yesterday and little man is really, really stuck! BUT, it was so cute b/c he was playing with the umbillical cord and then he was opening and closing his hand. He would pop up each finger seperately like he was counting! Too cute! It was nice to see something besides his head and spine for once! That's all we've seen since 30 weeks!

Aww... I bet that u/s made you totally excited! Well, I can't answer about staples... I had dissolving st_tches... I can say that my best friend had staples twice (and we delivered at the same hospital/same OB practice, two of our babies were the exact same weight, but were still closed up differently lol how weird is that?)... anyway, I digress... she said that she barely felt them remove the staples. I think it's good that you make most people wait a day or two... unless you are incredible lucky, you will probably have some pain that day and won't feel like having everyone there. I went in to my scheduled Cs showered and all, but after a few hours and a surgery, I looked like cr*p LOL. I was able to get out of bed a few hours later... with my daughter it was only like 2-3 hours, because she was in NICU and I had to get up and into a wheelchair to go see her, after my youngest son it was about 7 hours (but I had to be under general anesthesia for his birth and I was loopy and out of it for awhile lol). I was able to shower the next morning after all three of my Cs. I also had caught up on pain meds and felt so much better the next day and even better the day after that!

Don't worry about the staples! I couldn't feel mine at all and it didn't even hurt to get them out. I was actually more afraid of getting my staples pulled out than of actual labor! lol - my doc took them out 5 days after and it felt like little tugs - similar to if you gently pull on on hair on your body. Two days to go!!! Congratulations :)

Aw, don't you just love ultrasounds. Okay, so staples. My docs used st_tches inside (the kind that desolve) and staples outside. You won't feel the staples when they go in, you"re still numb. I was worried about their removal, but it doesn't feel like anything at all. Occa__sionally there might be a little pinch, but it"s really not bad. As for showering, I was allowed to shower the next day, just no scrubbing near the incision. Oh, just a few more days, try to relax. How is your nursury?

I'm planning on taking a nice long shower and shaving on Thursday morning. Who knows when I'll be able to shave next! Oh, but when I do, I will be able to see again past my belly to shave "down there" instead of going by feel...YAY!!! I think I may go get a nice pedicure today...it will my last one probably until the summer! My dr is using stiches inside and then staples outside. When he takes the staples out at day 4, what do they put there so it doesn't open up? It seems like it may pop open or something! And just how many staples do they use? Are we talking 10-15 or 50? I'm afraid of looking like Frankenstein!!

Oh, about the nursery! Don't even get me started! Hehe! Dh and I bought a new house BEFORE we sold our current house. BIG mistake! Our new house will be done being built at the end of March. So, when we move there, the nursery will be just beautiful! The bedding set I got is called Dreamy Nights...it's a really pretty sun, moon, stars theme. So, I am going to have my BIL paint a mural and I'm going to paint clouds and stuff. Back to our current house. We have been having tons of showings, which is fabulous, but now with a new baby and surgery, it is going to make cleaning up and getting out of the house much more difficult. We have a room set up as his nursery here, but it's more for show and it's not how I would've really done his room. He'll be in his ba__sinet in our room anyway. I'm sad that he won't have his "real" nursery ready for when he comes home. Oh well. I think I'm just hormonal b/c normally that wouldn't bother me! :-(

Gavins mom,
Im another successful c-section story!
I was in labor 24 hrs and had the it b/c my little guy (with a HUGE head} wouldnt come down my pelvis. So 15 mins after my doc said no more..i was whisked away and my baby was born. No pain at all...very tired in recovery. I took minimum pain meds...and I healed fine.
There are pluses to c-scections! No sitz baths, no fear to have a bm, no stiches in your oh so tender netherlands, s_x is completely normal and you can do it sooner. I really didnt mind the whole thing...to me it was just another means to meet my healthy 7lb14 oz boy. He is 4yrs now and im 15wks pg w/my second...I will be scheduling a c-section this time.
GOOD LUCK.
Oh and I had dissolving st_tches and surgical glue so I didnt have to have any staples at all. I hope my doc does that again...I showered 2 days after the surgery.

Ok all you veterans...I have another question! Do they make you have an enema with a c-section?

woah - s_x didn't hurt suze42??? It still hurt for me until 9 weeks pp - until then it felt like a fork was.... you get the picture! I guess everyone's different! As for the enema thing - I didn't get one and I had no problems back there :)

I had an enema while in labor with my oldest, but none for the c-sections. ROFL SuzieQ... I totally get the picture... that's how it was for me, too. Poor dh ;-)

Why does s_x hurt...I could see how it may hurt the incision area or something from all the movement, but did it feel like a "fork" in the good place? I gave dh some last night...he won't be getting it for a while! LOL! (Maybe tonight if he is lucky, but then that's it) :-) I don't think I am going to sleep a wink tonight! we have to be at the hospital at 10 am and then surgery is at noon. I can't eat or drink anything after midnight....ugh...I will be starving!!!

Yeah, s_x can be painful after a c-section for quite sometime. There is a separate thread somewhere specifically on that topic......
