I have posted on here previously about my incision not closing properly. Well, now it has closed but there is a hunk of pink fleshy tissue that portrudes out of the closed wound. It's not like a bumpy scar... it is a actually piece of fleshy wet bloody tissue that resembles the inside of your lower lip. I saw my doctor today. She assured me that the surgical incision is closed, but since the wound healed from the inside out, this tissue protruded out. She said that now I need to try to keep it uncovered so that it will necrose and dry out. She told me that this occurrance is common with episiotomies, and that they usually cauterize the bulging tissue. However, my hunk of tissue is quite large and my doc told me that she fears cauterization would be extremely painful. I am 4 weeks post partum now. The doc said that if I can dry this thing out and make it shrink, maybe they can do some cautery at my 6 week check up. Otherwise she said that this can take up to 3 more months to dry up and necrose on its own. I am really upset because I already cannot wear any pants with a zipper because I have this raw "piece of meat" hanging out of my incision. I already had to go buy high waisted underwear because all of my other panties hit right at the incision line and were too painful to wear. Has anyone else experienced this, even with an episiotomy?
