Vertical Incision Vs Horizonal

My doctor is going to use a vertical incision because of the size of my baby. I think that this way takes longer to heal. Anyone had this type of incision and how long was your healing time? I have to return to work in 6 weeks.

I haven't had one...but I've read that once you have a vertical incision, it means any future babies will be c-sections too.

I've been told that type of incision is only used in emergency cases and does more damage to the mother. So it will take longer to heal. However, everyone's heal time is different. So if you tend to be a quick healer, then it might not be bad to fit your timeline. I'm not sure why you have to be back in 6 weeks, but most short term disability in relationship to a c-section covers 8 weeks. I don't know if that will help or not.

I had a vertical with my DD. I was told I can have another baby v____ally though. The incision doesnt matter...its whether they cut your uterus that way. MIne was cut horizontal even though my incision was vertical. They had to cut mine that way because of a ruptured appendix in me.They also cut women vertically if they are large in size or obese. It does take longer to heal and the chances of dehissance (st_tches comeing open) are also higher.

I had an emergency vertical or cla__sic section in July of 2005. I was back to moving around pretty well in just a few weeks. I had my staples removed a week later and had absolutely no problems with the incision. My baby was born at 25.1 weeks, so for a full term birth the healing time may be different though.

I didn't know they did vertical incisions on larger women. I'm glad they didn't have to do that to me, I was a little more than 300lbs when I had my first c-section.
