I had a c-section with my 7 yo daughter. Im 5 months prenant & my Doctor said I HAFT to get another C-section. I heard they do not cut in the same spot, so am I going to have 2 scars & the more kids I have the more scars I'll get?

I don't know what the protocol is for where they are SUPPOSED to cut the 2nd time. All I know is that they did mine very wrong the 2nd time. I think that they are supposed to go in though the same scar, but remove just a tiny bit of tissue on either side of the scar so that they are sewing fresh skin to fresh skin, and not sewing fresh skin to scar tissue. For my 2nd c-section, my incision did not close for 7 weeks. I went to a plastic surgeon who told me that it looked like my OB tried to go in through my old scar and then tried to sew up the old scar tissue. He said that a fresh wound would not adhere to old scar tissue, so that is why my incision opened up. Those 7 weeks were a serious low point in my life. I would encourage you to ask questions about this to avoid it happening to you. Good luck!

Thanks, Nerdy Girl
a woman i was talking to, told me her Dr gave her a tummy tuck without her asking when she had her 2nd c-section to avoid having 2 scars, she explained they pulled her extra skin down & made it look like one scar. Is that a normal procedure with the 2nd c-section?

Wow, I could have used the complimentary tummy tuck! My youngest is almost a year old, and I still have a poochy belly. My friend who also had 2 C's explained to me that her doc excised a small rectangle of skin around her old scar so that it would heal better, and she still would only have one scar.

I am a bad one to ask about this because of my nightmarish experience with the incision opening up. Since my wound was open and had to heal from the inside out, it's all lumpy and deformed. It's totally noticable when I wear a swimsuit because my lower abdomen is just misshapen now. I mentioned before that I met with a plastic surgeon. He advised me to wait 6 months to a year to see what happened naturally. Now I just need to decide what I want to do.

For mine, my doc went over the same incision site for my 2nd and 3rd c-sections and cut out the scar tissue each time.

Well for my 2nd c-section they cut a new scar crisscrossing the old scar,so it is kinda like a small x there.I will be having my 3rd c-section late feb so i dont know what it will look like this time around, but i was very unpleased with my last c-section scar.

All three of my scars are pretty much one and the same....no tummy tuck here (last delivery June 06) but could have used one!

Well I have had 3 csection and the first one was a bikini cut, the 2nd was on the same scar just not as long. With my third i was always joking the dr should give me a free tummy tuck and when i had my daughter they had to cut my scar longer and my dr did give me a small tummy tuck because of the scar tissue. I have actually not heard of them cutting in a different spot unless it was the horizontal csection.
